BBM speaks about team selection and the game

Brian Barry-Murphy:


"We're still in the early days of working together. We worked out that we've only trained for 25 days so that's a very small period of time in trying to build things together.

The players that came in were there based on how they've trained and how close they've been to starting the other games themselves.

We thought it was as competitive a team that we put out at Port Vale and luckily for us it was a better performance than at Port Vale.

Pleased with the outcome but aware of so much things we have to improve in the future.

On Thursday, I thought there was little evidence of what we want to be apart from the willingness to keep going no matter how difficult or frustrating the performance was.

I think there was signs tonight of the team we could be. The better we get and the more consistent we are, the more successful we'll be.

There were obviously signs as well of things we can be better at, that's clear.

The players' improvement and consistency will come as long as we keep that focus on training and the style of play.

We want to win all the games and we want to be competitive."

Lots of passing is nice to see but at some point you have to go for the jugular.

Both Port Vale and Swindon showed how dangerous this can be in running at a centre back or getting from A to B as quickly as possible.

It must be tough for Robinson or Salech in this team at the moment.

Decent start, but let’s feed the strikers a bit quicker.
