" Cian Ashford "

Brian Barry-Murphy:

"He has hugely exciting potential.

The big thing for me is identifying with him the positions he needs to be in to score what I would call regulation goals.

So at the back post where he's tapping in from a cross or being closer to goal.

His first goal was against Southampton from distance. It's a brilliant goal, like Rubin's goal tonight.

But you can't rely on those goals. He's a winger who will be judged on goals and assists. It's just not possible to score a large amount of those brilliant goals.

So he has to arrive at the back post to score more regulation goals and he has the capacity to do it.

He's exciting to work with but the main things for us to work on is his assists from crossing positions and the positions to score goals that are more attainable than spectacular goals."

I agree BBM. Some of the negativitiy he gets is harsh. A very important player for us this season.

I love the "cant rely on those goals" quote, also. Spot on. 10 tap ins over 1 worldie, all day!

A good game last nigh Cian. Keep going.

He should have scored yesterday but never mind, he was in the right place and hit it on the right side while the keeper was moving across, he was just a bit wide.

He did score. 21 mins. Tap in.

Good player, but very lazy when it comes to closing players down and tracking back.

In my opinion, and I think as a junior player, he was a striker not a winger. I think Isaac falls in to the same bucket.

For me he is a striker who needs to play off Salech. Play two up top with Ashford close to Salech…

However, in this day of football two up top is not the thing to do.

Personally, I think he has 20 goals in him playing that way.

Yes sorry, I meant for the shot that hit the post, almost perfect, but not quite he was unlucky. I like him; he played well yesterday, and it looks like he will nick the position back from Tanner if he keeps playing like that.

Ashford is much better on the right than the left what I see of him

Dont know what games you guys were watching but opinions is opinions. My opinion on Ashford and Davies last night was that they were both dreadful against appalling opposition. They had so much ball yet cant beat a man or even control a ball properly. The times they were static waiting for a ball to magically appear at their feet only to pass back or lose possession when they got it was criminal.

Played brilliantly last two games, a star in the making, brilliant seeing him and Colwill improving significantly under the new Manager and team, well done BBM, Ashford and Colwill, long may it continue :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
