Hugill will be one to watch if we decide to play out from the back, he will press all game, and with how shaky we are at the back sometimes may be a dangerous tactic.

We need to stop this "Fannying About" inside our own penalty area.

We will concede more goals than scoring them with this type of messing around.

Chambers to blame did it at port vale,
and did it again against Swindon this time he got caught out,

Tippy tappy foot on the ball back to the keeper going nowhere like walking football.

Brian Barry-Murphy:

"You've seen signs of how I want us to play in the first three games, but not enough. I want to see more and more.

They scored with a breakaway goal today with their only shot on target. The tendency for a player then is to play things a bit safe or go backwards, but we want a team that's going to step forward all the time. No matter what stadium we're in, the style of play needs to be evident.

Tonight Nathan was still looking for short solutions when they went man to man, that meant the pass to Ryan Wintle especially was under a lot of pressure.

We're not stupid - when the pressure from the opponents is so high then we have to play a bit longer and get to our forward as quickly as possible.

That's what I'm talking about. As we go through training and playing, the players will naturally realise when that's occurring. Then we'll go into Yousef's chest and turning the opponents towards their goal."

Brian Barry-Murphy:

"Rotherham will give us a stern examination of how good we want to be.

They have a lot of experienced players, probably the opposite of us. There are players in their team that I played with.

They'll be aware of what our strengths are but they'll also think they can give us a test that we won't be able to cope with.

We have to show that we've improved since Port Vale. I'm not saying they're the same as Port Vale, but the challenge is going to be similar and we have to show that we've improved from week 1 to week 3 or whatever it is.

Those steps are key to improving right through the season.

Obviously we're improving but we're not losing sight of the fact that we're here to win games."

Cardiff come up against Kion Etete's Rotherham United this weekend, however the striker of course will be unable to play against his parent club.

Etete, who is in fact injured anyway, signed a two-year deal at Cardiff before being loaned out to Bolton Wanderers in the second half of last season, however he endured a torrid time with the Trotters.

Etete a few months ago was given an unbelievable New 2 Year Contract by The Transfer Committee.

That Nombe is a handful up front for Rotherham, bullied the Port Vale centre backs opening day and will have a field day against our centre backs if they play like they have the first three games.

That's where the game will be won and lost for me but hopefully the defence will learn from their previous mistakes.

It's not about been overly physical, sometimes it's about reading the game and decision making.

This needless diving into tackles and selling yourself needs to stop, all it does is open us up if you miss the player or run the risk of getting sent off.

Lawlor to come in at centre back and move Chambers to his proper position CDM.

I would've dropped Wintle for this game despite the injury he has been poor since opening day.

The only other change I'd make is Salech for Robinson. Ashford and Davies deserve to keep their places on the wings.

2-1 City Salech double.

I watched Rotherham against Stevenage last weekend. Both teams seemed to be quite solid and the game was always going to be won by who got the first goal which went to Stevenage.

Both defences were quite solid and it was a moment of lapsed concentration that cost Rotherham the game. I thought they would get the equaliser as they had our former player Hugil but tbh he was disappointing. It was an entertaining game for the neutral and it will be a difficult game they will give us this weekend.

Shame, I was hoping he would play against us! Give our keeper an easy afternoon.

He's 33 now and a big lump, can't see him pressing all game.

I rememeber his goal on his debut for us against Forest, ball over the top, outpaced the defence and slotted it past the keeper. Hopefully he can't do that anymore...!

Similar test to Port Vale I think, in terms of style.

Like the manager says, we have to show we've improved since Port Vale if we want to win.

Reality checks in:

Rotherham for todays game have only Sold 304 Tickets / it’s also pay on the day.

Many many teams will bring that low and even lower:
Stevenage, Wimbledon, Burton, Doncaster etc

Hi forget the wingers Tanner and Willock repeatedly given poor ratings play 442 , bring King in move Chambers in midfield, for his probably last game use Fish and Daland as centre backs look to under21s ie Perrett etc well that’s my opinion :bluebird:

Yeah I watched bulk of that game last weekend too.
Thought nommbe looked dangerous more than hugill. He went off with hamstring or groin if I remember. Any news on if he's fit today
