For me, a quality centre back is key. Someone to command the area, strong and experienced. This young back 4 wont last a season, and got out-muscled for most of the 90 mins last night. Priority 1 for me.
Then, we need a quality number 6. Again, someone who knows his way around and can hold his own. Jizzing over Wintles pre-season worried me, and I've seen enough of him over his career to know he won't roll his sleeves up. Pretty on the ball when dominating, last night he's no good whatsoever. Chambers will hopefully step in to the role, but we need depth in that position. Turnbull is a Scottish version of Wintle. Very similar players who look ok but in fact, don't impact a game. Robertson may be this individual, but I'd like to see him further up the park. NG maybe?
We are also crying out for someone who can actually feed Salech. Tanner had a good first game but his crossing is poor. Willock and Ashford also have done little between them, with Willock showing zero in his Cardiff career. A Craig Conway/Craig Noone type would be ideal.
Finally, Salech needs cover. He's clearly going to go toe-to-toe with these defenders and it's taken me 180 minutes to remember that down a tier is also significantly worse refereeing. Robinson isn't a replacement for me, we need another striker. An experienced older head for me.
I'm happy with the Colwill brothers. Rubin will have a good season and Joel looks like he's up for the scrap.
Likelihood of getting all of the above is slim; but that is what I think.

I totally agree with you tanner and willock last night awful Ashford isn't a winger he usually cuts outside inside or passes backwards what frustrated me last night was we get just outside there box and we end up passing backwards in our own half it reminded me of when bulet was here and riza in this league teams will play against us just like port vale did last Saturday we got away with it ended up with a win we got out muscled in partically every debt they played 5 at the back against solo striker so you always had extra players going into midfield ended up being out muscled and out numbered we defo need players people who think our squad will walk this league just had a wake up call last nighy

I agree with most of this and I said from the beginning we need 2 or 3 players.
Wintle slows everything down and holds on to the ball and Salech comes with a bit of a rep after scoring in the championship. He’s going going to get battered this season as teams know about him.
I cant understand the hype on Trott, yes he looked ok but how can people judge yet, he did make a save I think.

Can't disagree with any of that, there are many on here who are totally deluded to think this squad (as it is) can roll over most teams in this league by just turning up. We need quality down the spine of the team or we are going nowhere. Will Tan provide funds for this?? I doubt it, then it will be more youngsters on loan. August will tell us a huge amount of where we are, we play the two teams who came down with us (but both finished above us) and Stockport who lost out in the playoffs.

We’ve needed better wingers for 2 seasons, we got away with it with Grant and Bowler, but fully exposed last year.
The experience of Matt Ritchie worked so well in Pompey’s team last year alongside Murphy who has pace for days.
Need some solid, consistent boys across this squad.
Chambers got exposed at CB every game last year before switching into midfield, not sure what to make of him now being captain.

With the space we create for our wingers they should do much better than they are doing.. I couldn’t believe how bad Willock and Tanner were last night. Out of 10(?) opportunities to cross neither of them got remotely close to putting in a decent ball
Fri Aug 08, 2025 8:35 am
Trouple is alot of the teams in this division have seasoned veterans i am all for youngsters but they need to be guided and our 2 elders are shocking chambers slows the game right down at the back and willock does not want to be at cardiff last night was a bulut team .

the same players continually go ,AWAL willock tanner ruben Bagan the latter has been discarded by 5 managers Bagan is nowhere near a full back at this level

spot on
there's a few saying we need a number 6 but I don't think that's a priority right now
the midfield were doing their job getting the ball down the flanks for the wingers
willock and Tanner were just so wasteful last night
if either one of them put at least one decent ball in for salech it would have been a different game

Why change the team from last Saturday? Probably thought he must play chambers as he's captain. To many of the old guard back, and dropped into this slow don't give a dam style. Not the style we were told from BBM. However, its only game 2.

Yes Tanner was the same last season, have one good game then go missing for the next 2-3.

We need left full back wingback it's been our weakness for a few seasons centre midfield general type who dictates play two wingers as our wingers pose alot but don't actually deliver most of the time we need someone that's consident at wing we need pace we haven't had pace for a while now
Fri Aug 08, 2025 12:03 pm
Winger the priority for me. Last night showed we lacked that quality needed.
Fri Aug 08, 2025 12:05 pm
Left wing back is priority for me, prefably one that gets forward. We can't go a full season with just Bagan.

The quote of NG in the middle, isn't a bad idea, he is aggressive, only concerns are he is lost his pace to chase back, also he could pick up a few bookings, make R Colwill captain, it gives him something to work for, other than that he is lazy.
Desperately need a CB & CM.

We have a mediocre squad at best
These kids get bullied and we have no leaders
If we don’t get at least 4 in we will be bottom half

Sadly as I said 2 months ago - The " Side Show " took over and most on here thought something would happen
The Club would be sold - I wished it was true but sadly not - If you looked at the clues from Tan and BBM
Players will come in - But a couple more will leave before Sept 1st
