Relegation is best thing to happen to Cardiff City says:

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson:

“I think they've made a clear decision that they're going to go a lot younger and they've got some good young players. I think it's the correct decision.

"They’ve brought a manager in that’s got a clear way of how he wants to play. I think the handling of the expectations is going to be the big thing for them.

“Sometimes the best thing that can happen is actually to get relegated.

“I know it doesn't seem it at the time and it sounds crazy what I'm saying, but actually you then start maybe winning games in a lesser league and that builds a momentum, similar to what Birmingham did.

“You then can get momentum in the crowd and momentum in the club again, because clearly it’s lost its weight a little bit, not being disrespectful — I think everyone would agree.

“For a club this size to be in League One, that shouldn’t be the case — but it is. There have been a lot of big clubs in this league — Birmingham, Leeds, teams like that.

“But I think they've made the correct decision with the manager and I think they've made the right decision in terms of how they're going about it.”

I'm not fan of Darren Ferguson, he's failed everywhere apart from Peterborough and probably only got jobs because his dad is Sir Alex.

But I agree with every word he's said here.

Relegation has seen us appoint this manager and I've said from the start that I think Tan has struck lucky with the manager.

Time will tell, very early days in the season but I've always been positive about this appointment. Just seems to have something about him.

He spoke welll and didn't really say anything wrong about he game! As for good thing relegation he's right we've had a total reset brought in the youngsters got a coach who actually knows his job and how to teach youngsters? Got potential to do a double promotion like Ipswich and Bournemouth as similar setup.

Certainly not me, Tony! Relegation has hurt this club in more ways than one!

I worry about this club under Vincent Tan. He genuinely appears to have given up, but just can’t let go for some reason(s) best known to himself!

Having said that, whoever/however BBM was recruited, he has impressed me and it is possible we are building up something special for the future with these youngsters and even after just one game, I think the signs are already there! :ayatollah:

It may have been a disaster for the club at the time but as we saw Saturday there are shoots of recovery that certainly wouldn't have been there if still in championship? ... my concern is tan will see this and will encourage his obsession of promotion which will only want him to stay no matter what otto or anyone offers! Unfortunately tan as hit on
What looks like a winning formula great for us fans but also great for tanand his ego.

There’s merit in your comment, Allan. My only response is to say that had we survived intact in the Championship last season, we would still now have a new manager, and that manager (Ramsey apart) would more than likely not be a ‘name’, so the situation may/may not have been similar

As much as I like what I’ve seen so far from BBM, I’d still far prefer to be taking our chances in the Championship, as that is the minimal acceptance us Bluebirds should have; the minimum! :ayatollah:
