" Ollie Tanner "

Ollie Tanner made at least two more key passes than any other player in League One (6) on opening weekend.

I thought he played too safe on the weekend, always favouring the pass backwards. He did put a cracking ball in for Salechs header. What is classed as a key pass?

Well I would guess that the pass to Kpakio for his goal is classed as a key pass as it's an assist, even though it was a relatively simple pass to make.

Played better 2nd half than first imo. BBM did say that he told the team at half time to get the ball in quicker rather than alter what they were doing. He covered well too.
Noticeably he got so much space on the right wing due to Joel Colwill dragging the left back inside and leaving acres of space on our right; that and some fantastic pinged balls from the defence. :bluescarf:

I saw alot of negative feedback for his performance, some on here and on other social media.

I though he had a good game. He looked sharp. Ok, not every pass is perfect and he loves a cut in shot, but I think he'll do damage this year under BBM.

Yes if one fault in 1st half was not putting ball in middle when able to especially as there was seve players there... that header by Salech was prime example of why ball needs to get to Salech quicker.

I don't think he played that bad at all
he was getting a few crosses in the box and salech wasn't getting in space
I actually thought salech had a poor game by his standards and should have done better with the header and when he had the ball by the 6 yard box he should of just shot and instead he tried to take an extra touch

Agree with that totally.

Thought he was superb on Saturday. Some top-drawer crosses, which should have led to more goals for sure. FotMob app which monitors positions and activity on the pitch in realtime ranked him the highest in the team, so not surprised he had more key passes than anyone else in the whole league. Best vision/reader of the game by miles

Fair point, forgot about that pass and as an assist would be key.

He has two speeds and no middle ground… he is either Premier League or National league, massively frustrating. For example, superb control of a thirty yard cross field pass followed by a missed five yard pass! No consistency.

That's actually a great summary of Tanner! :laughing6:

I thought apart from 2 crosses 1st half he was poor. Better 2nd half for definite. Hopefully Bbm works on the early delivery as stated above lots of times opportunity was there for cross or shot and not taken. I include others in this and not just tanner

Thought he had a solid game sat...his cross 1st half on weaker foot should have been buried by Salech....

I agree entirely what’s been said about Tanner - a poor start but improved as the game went on. I think the comments about Salech though are, are a bit harsh. It WAS a great cross from Tanner, but I thought Salech did well to outjump their centre back and get in a great header. He had no chance to head the ball downwards in view of the presence of that tall centre back. Personally, I think their goalkeeper deserves full praise for a great reaction save.

Have to agree

He was frustrating for me. Effort was there final ball or touch was sloppy on times. Got better as the game went on and if you compare him to last season he looks fitter and more capable of having prolonged periods of impact.

For me last season he looked like an impact sub at best.

Good to see he's obviously worked hard in preseason.

I thought he had a good game. The 2 square passes that set Rubin up on the edge of the box were very good, particularly the one in the second half.

I watch the match live in the US and thought he had a good game. The commentator that he was a candidate for MOM. He was certainly an available attacking outlet for most of the time he was on the field and was a great assist for our 2nd goal. I was pleased to see him in the starting eleven and I am sure he will play an important role in our promotion this year.

One thing about Tanner I like even when he has a poor game he does not hide Always looking to get the ball Consistency is the main thing but that is why he is playing with us in league one

Guess that's why he's playing for a League One club, not a Premier League club?

In terms of image he is the 'rock star' of the team. This was reflected in his play when he scored against the Jacks - which was not the best thing for him, maybe. This was a hard act to follow and he may have been trying too hard to achieve something similar. But there are so many other factors that could account for the fact that he has not improved to the level many hoped for him. There's no lack of fight in him and I hope he comes good.
