Cardiff City want four new signings before the end of the transfer window, with chairman Mehmet Dalman emphatically ruling out the prospect of allowing either of Yousef Salech or Callum Robinson to leave.


The Bluebirds, who kicked off their season with a 2-1 win over Peterborough United on Saturday, are the only team in League One not to make a signing yet. However, that is likely to change soon.


Dalman said Cardiff are on the verge of signing FC Copenhagen's Nathan Trott, a loan deal which is understood to contain an option to buy if City are successful in achieving promotion, but another could follow through the door soon after. "We've got a goalkeeper coming in," Dalman said. "And we are looking to add another three players in this window.

"I can't speak for Brian, but I think he wanted to have a really good look at what he's got before he made any decisions. I think he has a pretty good idea of what he wants.

"He is really excited by what he's got here already. Genuinely excited about it."


Asked how close the other three signings are, after Trott, Dalman said: "One is very close, but we have a problem in getting it over the line, which can be solved.

"So we want to buy goalkeeper or bring in on loan and one other, then the other two will probably be loans.

"We don't really need that many new players. I think the squad is pretty good."

Much of the focus in this window has been relating to keeping the talent they currently have in the building. While a dozen players have left in some capacity, the club are confident they have kept a solid core and are excited by a talented crop of youngsters bursting through, too.

I recently was giving Dalman the. Benefit of the doubt. That he knew what Tan was like, knew what the club was about and the potential. That he, like 100% of the fans dislike how Tan has massacred our club.

His comments now put him on par with Tan.

Good news that Salech and Robinson are going nowhere, I hope Dalman sticks to his word for once.

Four new players, one of them will be Trott obviously - at least one of the others has to be a defender.

I hope he’s telling the truth about Salech and Robbo.

Looking at it at face value and tan wants to take us back up to increase his asking price - Keep them and we have 2 of the best strikers in the league who are comfortable championship strikers not just league 1

Sell them and we are immediately weakened massively. Have a much harder job to get promotion and it will cost a shed full of cash to replace them.

We appear to be asset rich and cash poor right now. Usually we are asset poor and cash poor

The manager has confirmed at least one new signings will be confirmed in the next few days. Hopefully one or two others to follow.
We certainly need to strengthen the squad for the long season ahead. Injuries and suspensions always play a part and the squad we have is a little thin.
However, I would expect the team to remain the same or similar for Thursday as they didn't do too much wrong.
I would imagine Chambers will be named in the team sooner rather than later as he was named captain.

I always give Dalman less stick as I’d expect him to lie to protect his job.

Otherwise he really should be saying it as it is, “Tan refuses to fund permanent transfers, it’ll be loans only”.

Alnwick third choice I guess. BBM said Turner played yesterday because he first choice at the moment. Would imagine it'll be Trott, Turner, Alnwick - in that order.

Darko Gyabi was with Man City academy 3 yrs ago, so could be a connection with BBM - cant see us paying 2 mil for him though

Jonny, he’s gone into a default ‘protecting his interests’ mode and I don’t think he coukd ever be totally honest with us supporters. He’s proven that this last week or so

I was only replying to the previous poster, havent heard it myself, though there is another thread which seems to be gathering pace on this player, so who knows??

Looking forward to the 4 new players coming in and an end to this " Side Show "
