Brian Barry-Murphy:
“ David Turnbull, We have certain processes in training that we go through that are our code of conduct and David just missed out on one and wasn't available because of that reason. He will be back available on Monday.”

It sounds like BBM is a strict manager.
He dropped Willock for a friendly and has now dropped Turnbull because of his actions.
I like it.

I agree.
Sometimes footballers need a kick up the arse and it sounds like this is one of those occasions.
Need to let the pampered millionaires know who's in charge now and again

Saw him leaving the players entrance pretty smartish after the final whistle. Players would have still been on the pitch.

Love this.
If you don't meet certain standards in training you're out of the squad, not just the team.
Surprised its Turnball that has been pulled up for it...but sod it, up 2 u now pal to work your way back in.

If he's back available Monday then it cant be that bad, let's see how be reacts, if he starts sulking get rid but it could be the kick up the ass he needs to really start his Cardiff career

Probably late for training or something similar I’d imagine.

You’re all assuming it was a discipline issue, but that’s not how I read it. It might have meant he simply didn’t achieve a ‘
minimal level’ in one aspect of training and/or practice
I may be wrong, but so might you?

Its a long season, tough league , sure Colwill looks good , can he do a full season? Will we need to.be rested , we may need Turnbill. at some point... Man management is about turning things around and back into a positive so hopefully this will spin out correctly .

I must admit, I read it the same way as you.

He gave all the old pros a right kick up the arse, you can't be arrogant or cocky or take things for granted or you'll be dropped for the kids, who still went out and won.
I think we've had player power for years, getting numerous Managers sacked, it looks ike the tables have been turned, well done BBM, very brave.

I might be wrong here but I suspect it might be as innocuous as a "buzzer test".
It could be the case that, in order to qualify for the squad, a player needs to hit level 15 on the buzzer test.
This ensures that all players maintain peak fitness.
The word disciplinary was used but perhaps this was the wrong word to use.

BBM said something about "code of conduct" and "missing things".
I assume that means he was late for training.
I think it's good that he was told he was out of the squad for that, tells the players that they have to be professional or they won't play.
Sun Aug 03, 2025 8:31 pm
Yes that's what I was thinking. The code of conduct is that a certain level of fitness is to be maintained (ie level 15 on the buzzer test) and he missed it.
And I agree it does set the standard for the whole squad
Sun Aug 03, 2025 8:47 pm
I wouldn't be surprised if he's out the door
Sun Aug 03, 2025 8:52 pm
I think if we bring in the midfielder who's been doing the rounds today I think turnbull will go back up to Scotland

For BBM to say he’s back available Monday, I don’t think there was anything serious going on. Like some others suggested I think it was just something like late for training perhaps. If it was an attitude problem I don’t think BBM would have stated he’s back Monday.

It's put pressure on him, we are all talking about why he's on the naughty step, and will be looking to see if he does improve and make the team on Thursday, he's not afraid to push the players.
