.... Then isn't BBM actually the perfect appointment?
One thing we know about him is that one of his biggest strengths is working with and improving young players.
That was literally his job at Manchester City and he did it well.
Other managers may have needed new signings to make things work.
But this manager has a record of improving young players.
So I hope that even those who doubt him can see this argument.

I’m with you all the way on 90% of your views on BBM but I think we definitely need at least 2 or 3 more experienced players along with a couple of younger loans.

I agree with that. Just making the point that this appointment makes sense if it's mostly about young players.

That is the worry, if we lost say.....2 experienced players then would need to bring in 4-5 new players, would Tan do that??

BBM said last night he's looking to bring in 4 new players, if he gets all 4 and they are all starting 11 players I think we're good to go until January

Having worked at Man City's academy BBM has clearly had success dealing with and improving youngsters who will have a very high base when it comes to their initial skill levels - they wouldn't be at Man City if they weren't already some of the most talented youngsters in the country to start with.
So for me the question will be whether BBM is able to improve and get success with young players who are not as talented or maybe as committed as those he has dealt with previously at an elite level with Man City.
It's always been said that Pep or Mourinho would struggle if you put them in charge of a lower league team as they would not know how to deal with players without the talent and ability to play the way the manager would want to play.
I would be much more impressed if BBM had shown some real progress in improving and getting success with the youngsters at Rochdale and Leicester but in each case ultimately the clubs involved were unable to improve sufficiently to avoid relegation.
That may well not have been BBM's fault and other factors were no doubt in play but I would suggest that BBM has much to prove that he can build a successful team based on the relative quality of our young players.

When interviewed, I think he said he would be bringing in 'quality' rather than 'quantity'. So maybe only one or two will come in. On the basis of his judgement, we get promoted with the current squad, which he thinks is good enough, or spend another year in League 1. It would be reassuring if the people who appointed him knew something about football - but they don't. We will be in the dark until we've played a few games.

Improving young players at man City which has one of the best academy around and he wasn't the only coach there at the time and bringing on young kids to play mans football are totally different so if this is the case I'm not hopeful for.our season at all

BBM succeeded at Man City because they used their financial power to poach all the best youngsters, including some of ours. It was near impossible to fail, as he had the best youngsters at that level.
BBM's only spell in the real world of professional football, working on a budget trying to improve the players already at the club, ended in relegation.
I really hope he proves me wrong and I will support him, but you don't help yourself sometimes with ridiculous posts like this.

On the flip side of that though it could be said that he had it against him.
His job was to develop young players to the point that they were good enough to join their first team.
Not any old first team, arguably the best first team in the world at the time.
And he did it, he did it well.

Agree with most of that we should really look at his stats at, was it rochdale or rotherham, this would give us a better indication of his managerial skills.
Been a bit part at man city academy who had the cream of the crop working there does not tell us anything apart from he worked with youngsters.

We never do unless there is money upfront - Sell before we buy

He may be good at getting the best out of a players ability, but the ability needs to be there.
I think we have a manager who has a chance of getting the best from our squad, but not confident this squad is much better than our performances last year suggested.
Time is the only judgement here, he needs time to develop the team, but if we have young Robbie Savage type players, I don’t think he will be turning them into Ronaldo. He can only work within our squads ability, that is where his tactical ability will be challenged

It makes more sense as to how hard the Manager selection process must have been. Trying to work out if we will sell, how quickly the sale would be, and what type of Manager they would actually need, and trying to get Tan and Dalman to agree.
Imagine there was a possibility of Bale as part owner and Rambo as Manager, but under the circumstances, BBM could end up the best choice if there is no money and we do go with the kids.

A new season , a new hope BUT this is Cardiff City !!
I wish BBM all the best but I am concerned whilst these “for sale” rumours hang over the club and total lack of investment into squad with the season starting in 2 weeks !!

Anyone think we can read much in to these messages from borley, seems we need to move more players out before we can get any in unless I'm misreading it
