Ryan Wintle

Mon Jul 07, 2025 10:55 pm

Have to say this post is inspired by the poster on here "Welsh Exile", who raised the point in the squad going to Spain thread.

But could Ryan Wintle play a big part this season?

He's experienced, a good passer and someone who will work hard.

I had my doubts about him in the Championship but I think he could do a great job in League One.

Could even be captain.

Ned, it’s a possibility. His football is not really in question, but I understand he fell out with Erol Bulut and was a bad influence on the squad at that time, along with one other player, who currently remains

He’s on a decent contract here, so he might just knuckle down and produce :ayatollah:

I heard someone talking on a podcast about Wintle last week saying he had heard Wintle has come back from Millwall with a totally different attitude got his head down and is working extremely hard

If he has his head switched on this season him and eli king will be battling it out for the number 6 if we don't bring anyone else in

Wintle is the type of player we need in league 1. We probably could have done with him last season.

Not from what I've seen, sadly.

Seems an honest pro, but not championship level. L1, maybe but I'd prefer someone with more skills than a safe pass and good corner.

I hope he isn't plan A. Plan B with a "go earn your spot" behind a new/fresh signing would be my preference.

I'd say Chambers is the main man for the number 6 shirt, providing he stays. :bluescarf:

It all depends which formation Barry plays, but with Wintle, Chambers and Turnball - that is the position I have the most confidence in atm.

I imagine that Wintle will be the 'rotator' with the latter 2 as starters

Yes I think that too.

Don't discount eli king from getting in on the number 6 role, word is he's been very impressive so far in training

But I agree one of either Chambers or turnbull should be favourite to start there if we don't sell them

I think Wintle gets such a bad rap on social media. They have all been previously coached to play a slow, methodical Italian game that none of them excel at. I think he does care and it was a shitshow last summer and he spoke out. Isn't that what we needed?

I believe the BBM game plan will get the ball forward much quicker through the 6; inverted fullbacks causing overloads or a dropping 8, which will suit Wintles and Kings game. I thought Chambers' passing was very iffy at times last season.

0 chance Chambers stays

Based on wages? But who would take him on under his currrnt wages?

I think Wintle could do the job in league 1. He was brilliant on loan at Blackpool few years back. If Chambers went I’d be happy for Wintle to take his place. I can imagine Chambers being on big money for the league we are in, so could invest in other areas.

He literally told a City fan to f**k off during a game. Hope the crab gets moved on

Agree with this.

The only player I can think of who hasn’t been on the end of a complete bashing over the last two seasons (justified or not) is Salech.

With instances of racism from a small minority hurled at Meite.

With Wintle, he’s good enough for League One and has experience which is missing in the squad at the moment.

I’d be quite surprised if we didn’t see quite a lot of him this season.

He looked switched off at times today and cost a goal due to it.

King was more effective.

But that being said wintle range of passing looked good.
