WE NEED TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

Sat Jul 05, 2025 7:42 pm

We could do with our squad all bedded in before the seasons starts so we can hit the ground running rather than leaving it till the end of august, we have 6 league games in august that's a lot of points 18 so anyone saying don' t worry until end of august I cannot fathom why they would say that

It would help if we had a good start of course. But I wouldn't say we need to.

Reality is the current squad is strong for League One. A few will leave but a few will come in.

Nowhere near close to a panic situation.

No doubt that will happen, but my point was getting the squad all ready early like warnock did, a good start is imperative rather than behind the curve.

We aren’t in a terrible situation for this season yet with new players still to be brought in.

According to Transfermrkt, his preferred formation is 433 so as it stands, we could start with:

Alnwick

Kpakio Daland Fish Bagan

Colwill Chambers Robertson

Ashford Salech Davies

I think it’s strong enough for league one but I do want to see us sign a no nonsense player with experience for the middle of the park.

A lot of negativity surrounding the club right now so I’d agree that we do need to hit the ground running.

That should then get the crown back and keep a good morale in the ground.

Yeah it’s a decent squad, Chambers under decent coaches can player better than he did. Think midfield works for him but I do want a no.6 as one of my biggest transfer targets.

Such an important position in this set up, someone who helps the defence but dictates the midfield and sprays the ball around.

I agree Monty,

Those saying plenty of time, will be the same ones come September saying well Murphy has only just put his squad together.

We should have 95% of our squad ready for Spain, 2 games all away in the training camp, jelling together.

August we should be raring to go, at least 4 wins from our first 6 league games.

I think I maybe in the minority but I don’t think our squad is good enough for League 1. Most of league 1 would have beaten us last season.
We do need to bring in some quality to the squad or we will be mid table.

Re: WE NEED TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

I have no knowledge of League One football and last watched a match when City were there, and I was around 12 years old. However I would like to see some players brought in, potentially with some more grit. If all those players in that potential 433 played like they did last season (except Salech), we don’t stand a chance. Don’t forget, the players on the pitch failed to perform (vast majority of them) and got us relegated last season. We’ve also lost seasoned operators like Rhino and COD.

Re: WE NEED TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

I only watched the play off games from League 1 last season, and considering the 4 teams involved were the 4 next best teams to the ones promoted it all seemed kick and rush, long ball stuff, and of course some hefty tackles. So I think we will need to get some players who can look after themselves and not go missing when the going gets tough, and get the ball down and play some good passing we should definitely be in the mix to go straight back up. I'm sure Murphy will know who and what is needed.

For those saying this squad as it stands I'd good enough for Lge 1, bar the 12 who have left, its the same squad that took us down with no heart or fight apart from 1 or 2 we need an injection nous and bottle.

To be the only club in the whole division tells you something and I don' t think it's about tan not investing as he is selling .
He could just be doing the same as last season not bothering he let riza take us down and a token gesture at the end with ramsey in charge when it was to late.
I really think he is just letting us fall deliberately and is prepared to stand a loss but f.ck us up big time.

Monty,

We are always playing catch up, yet they defend the Hierarchy.

Always an excuse pathetic, why always us?

BECAUSE TAN IS CLUELESS:

The excuses season after season have run out.

But Sadly some still defend it.

You need 95% of your Squad ready for the Training Camp in Spain END OFF:

And PLEASE NO ONE SAY IN AUGUST WELL Murphy had less time / Bollox’s

Promotion this season and in August at least 4 Wins from 6 games in Div 3.

We will have had about 6-7 Friendlies and Cup matches .

Totally agree last season was a lesson in how not to start a season it killed off our season been at the bottom early on we do not want to be there again so it's imperative in my book we are a settled team and squad used to playing with each other not still trying to put it all together 6 games in .
That's what the friendlies are all about ,gelling the team and squad together not just a fitness thing.

How do you know he hasn’t got his so called ducks in a row?
How do you know he haven’t got targets lined up and talking to?

You think there’s nothing going on behind the scenes?

Rumours are that there are two loan bids submitted to Man City for some of their youngsters.

So in fairness, it appears he does have his targets and is going after them.

We do need an experienced bruiser in the centre of the park and hopefully he has that lined up too

We can all start a rumour especially as he had connections with man city .

It's the same old story, behind every other team in terms of preparation. The squad was terrible last season and we have lost some of the better players. A good start is not looking likely with us player catch up. Hopefully Tan be out soon, although it doesn't address the immediate concern of a poor start to the season. SAME OLD, TAN OUT !
