Alex Robertson to Pompey?

What do you think on the rumour that Alex Robertson wants to return to Pompey, and do you think there is any truth in it? Would you be upset to see him leave if it was true?

He was a stand out performer in our League One winning season, a class act at that level. I understand that he didn't have the best of seasons with you last season. Was that because he wasn't good enough or because of injuries and playing in a struggling team?

When Manchester City decided to release him we thought that our club couldn't raise the transfer fee but it emerged that Pompey had tried to sign him but he preferred to go to Cardiff, which was a bit of a surprise to us as it happens. This was it was thought he was keen on staying at Pompey, he even travelled to away games and went to games with supporters when he was out of the side injured. He celebrated our success just as much as the other players. I think the rumours started when his father came to Fratton Park when we signed another Aussie player last week, but it emerged he was also this players agent. He has, supposedly, stated that he wants to come back to Fratton Park as he doesn't relish the return to League One.

Haven't heard that rumour at all our end. 2 + 2 = 5???

His uncle (i believe) is Gavin Rae and it was him that convinced him to join Cardiff by all accounts.

I’m pretty sure he is on a long term contract also (could be wrong) so it will cost anyone that wants him, and with BBM here now perhaps he can convince that another Stella performance in league 1 and helping the team to promotion would do wonders for his CV

if he goes and some of the other names mentioned I worry about the squad we will have left

and I don't trust Tan to fully back bbm with transfers

we need to keep as many championship quality players in the squad as possible just to give us an edge over other league one teams

But the only thing we know as a fact is the new manager has been told that the majority of the playing staff will be kept.

Nobody knows for a fact any different to that.

There will be interest in Robertson I'm sure, but I expect him to stay.

He's one of our few prized assets. Common sense would say that there will be championship poachers looking at a few. He will be one.

We need to keep him. I wouldn't be shocked if he left.

Imagine a world where Robertson leaves and Wintle is a starter.

If true about the 4 that want to go Horvath NG, Turnbull and Willock then sell them that will generate a little bit of cash and 13 gone will then really reduce wage bill... got to keep Robertson Salech ODowda Fish Bagan Tanner Ashford Colwills ,Davies Alnwick as back up....not sure if Robinson and Chambers will stay

We bought him for a million with numerous Man City add-ons. it would need to be at least £2.5 million. Has he demonstrated that?

In fairness, the slow game we played last season, nobody looked good. With a coach who'll do things quicker, he will look better.

I can't see him leaving unless it's a championship promotion contender, and I haven't seen enough to think that will happen.

If he stays with Cardiff, which seems the most likely scenario, and he plays like he did for us in League One you will see a really good player. He was a class act and most Pompey supporters were disappointed he chose Cardiff instead of coming back to us.

I think League One will be a little easier next season as the two big hitters are gone. No one else will spend the money Birmingham and Wrexham spent and Charlton are still seen as a big club who can attract players. So I would expect Cardiff to be one of the front runners. It was the same when Pompey got promoted where League One was the weakest it had been for some time. Ipswich were the big spenders along with Sunderland and when they were promoted the league was a little light of the big clubs.

Can’t see it at all.

He seems very happy here despite the relegation, and no doubt he will feel a big connection with the club, due to his uncle being Gavin Rae.

I think he only goes if we get a sizeable fee.

To be fair to Ian, I think he meant that he thinks Robertson will leave (I don't agree with that).
