I do not see Ralls as a club legend, he's a good solid professional who was a true club man - but legend is Phil Dwyer and the like, players who were one offs and stood out in their roles.

as for Ramsey, well like every player who is very decent they become greedy, you cannot blame them football has gone that way, far too much stupid money for transfers and wages, so good luck to them but they don't make the best managers all the time, nor make the best decisions for their so called home town clubs.

any way back to the problems being deflected, feck off tan and choo and dalman :laughing6:

Great point mate. He was a great player and I’m glad he played for us at times as he was solid and reliable. He only stay so long because no where better wanted him and we were the best he could get. Had arsenel come in for him he would have gone in a heart beat and who could blame him for playing at the highest level, and when his powers would have diluted and he returned to us again I would have possibly put him in the legend category if he was able to achieve anything with us. But I feel calling him a legend devalues the worth of the club legends which are and far between. No way is he close to Peter Whittingham.

I believe people can obtain club legend status for different reasons. The fact Ramsey is one of our own from a kid makes it easier to obtain as that’s part of what fans love, local player comes good. If talks was Cardiff then yes I’d say a Cardiff legend. But he isn’t.

So thanks Joe for all you given, and the very pretty statement that was probably written for you, and now on to the next player. He be forgotten about in a few days time unfortunately, and definitely not spoken about in 20 years, where Ramsey will and for the rest of his life.

Cobblers - you might have forgotten about him in a few days - but most will remember him fondly 20 years from now.

Just checking if Bellamy is a legend ?

Played more, scored more, achieved promotion, and coached the kids that are coming through. The only thing not on his CCFC CV is played for the academy.

You are probably right. I will remember as the jack of all trades master of none and overpaid for his skill level. But definitely not a legend.

Just out of interest, what would you say denotes being a club legend, if 15 years, 2 promotions to the PL, and 400+ games doesn’t cut it?

Ramsay is and always will be a legend Joe ralls was a great player in his time was in ramsay pedigree but will always be grateful to ralls great servant but ramsay legend!!

Re: Aaron Ramsey / Joe Ralls

Ramsey, is only not a legend, because he was simply far too good as a player, and was going to be at the top, so can’t compare him and Joe Ralls in anyway, if Joe could of played for Arsenal and, Juventus, he would not be a legend either at Cardiff, the fact he was a great championship player and stayed very loyal to Cardiff over the years makes him one.

Ramsey, cares deeply about Cardiff, but not a legend in playing terms because as I said, was far to good to stay with us.

Bellamy is different. Didn't have to sign for us, was playing for the likes of Liverpool and Man City around the time he joined us.

Nobody else wanted Ramsey.

I don't think of Rambo as a club legend; he is a global representation of Cardiff City, so at a different level.

My overly educated, highly analytical daughter asked me why my friends and i drool over everything Ramsey does. She has just turned 24, so doesn't remember him returning from injury and had only seen him for Wales. She predicted at the start that Ramsey would barely play, but we'd still make excuses; she was correct.

I remember reading about this kid, saw one of his youth team wonder goals on a poor camera, and was so excited when you could see the class for a kid when he made those first few starts. We had produced a world-class player :bluescarf:

When he left, I semi-supported Arsenal, I registered on one of the Gooner forums where they'd slated him, especially over Wilshire. I think we feel protective of him as he is one of our own, out there in the big, bad football world as a little piece, a representative of Cardiff City.

Does that make us slightly blind? I think it does.

Its always the hope that kills you, and that Leicester goal was one hell of a false dawn.

I didn't think he deserved another player contract on whatever money; his body will not allow him to play in the EFL. I didn't want him as the head coach when he had barely coached a youth game. Will i want him back in any other capacity in the coming seasons, bloody well right i do!!!!!

I don't know what has happened, and i don't care, i just wish he would close this chapter and we'll wait for the next one.

Colwill gets grief because he is not Ramsey. We are looking for another one, maybe that mantle falls to Kpakio, Lawlor, Giles or his brother. But we no longer have a piece of Cardiff City on the world stage.

There’s no set criteria. What I consider a legend and what you do can be totally different. Even personally I wouldn’t have the same criteria for each player it would depend on a multitude of thinks. I wouldn’t consider chopra, bothroyd, gunarsson, Hudson, Marshall, legg, macphail, kavanagh, a club legend but I’d rate them a whole load closer.

Ramsey for me because he is one of us came through the ranks went on to play at the highest level came back to us twice. Captained wales. Just a local legend in my eyes.

I'm not surprised he hasn't put out a statement. What with the way he was treated by the club because he wanted it run properly & now people saying he fleeced us. Get a grip.

People will remember him as a great player in years to come because he was, just because it didn't work out this time doesn't mean he fleeced us unless every player who has ever or will ever gets injured is also fleecing us. I don't buy this nobody else wanted him either, I'm sure lots of clubs would have taken him on the same terms as us given the chance, even lower Prem. teams, but they weren't even given the option because he wanted to come home but sometimes things just don't work out.

People become legends because of a whole load of different reasons & everyone has a different view of the what & why, look at Robin Friday, some say he's a legend because of a picture, some not so much.

Is he a legend? Not in my eyes but he is probably the greatest player to come through the academy that most of us will ever see & will be remembered fondly for it. And the money we got for him may have saved us from oblivion at the time, who knows, but at least he didn't run his contract down and leave on a free when we needed some cash.

As usual this is just my opinion & we're all different.

Wow. Can’t believe I find myself saying you’ve hit the nail right on the head here. A great post.
Especially noticing he stood up to tan like everyone has been screaming for someone to do and tell the club the truth. He fell on sword for us instead of taking the easy route keeping quiet and taking the pay cheque. He probably did more in those days and meetings that any protest could do over a few seasons.
