Four Cardiff players called up But No

Fri May 16, 2025 9:08 am

Bellamy will take a closer look over four players who have enjoyed breakthrough seasons in the Welsh capital; Cian Ashford, Dylan Lawlor, Ronan Kpakio and Luey Giles.

All four Cardiff youngsters Called in to the Wales Senior Squad Camp in Spain.

There is, however, NO room for Rubin Colwill or Isaak Davies. Colwill got married earlier this month and he might have been given time to enjoy these weeks away from football with his wife.

Likewise, Aaron Ramsey, is still a while away from full fitness, with uncertainty still hanging over his head. There is no room for Joel Colwill, either, despite the midfielder's impressive campaign in Leagues One and Two.

Nevertheless, the inclusion of the quartet in Bellamy's training squad is a real fillip for Cardiff, who believe they have some of the brightest talent around. Just this week, chairman Mehmet Dalman said: "We've got some of the brightest, most promising youngsters coming through the academy."

Rubin’s problem is his work rate. I honestly can’t remember seeing him sprint in a game. He doesn’t fit into Bellamys style of play.

Good to see them involved.

Some people are saying Rubin is away on his honeymoon so that may be why he's not there, I don't know.

If bellers take the likes of rubin that leaves one place less for a look at youngsters breaking through... he knows what rubin is about so let him have a honeymoon wont have chance in season.

Bellers footballing tactics represent him as a player, hign intensity, workrate over skill (at his level), all action, multiple sprints, nasty and niggly.....Perfect, I love it.

Big lads got no chance unless you are the sitter or centre halfs as they can't do the all-out sprints to get to the ball. And if one misses his assignment the press is broken and its easy to play through. I doubt we could maintain that in the championship as they'd all be dead by Christmas.

For me, we have to turn Rubin into a proper CM or let him leave and let better clubs try to get the best out of him.

I am less worrfied about Rubin than Issac Davies whose promising career looks never to have got going due to injuries.
