We know that the past few seasons there has been a big problem in a number of areas, recruitment, long term strategy, the coaching team, the list goes on.
I haven’t checked the figures for this season, but last season only six Championship clubs are operating without a Director of Football (Sporting Director, Technical Director, whatever you want to call it)
Football is changing, we are being surpassed by a number of clubs who are being run in a correct way, with football being left to those who know football.
There are even non league clubs who have Sporting directors in place.
Surely even Tan, who we know is as pig headed as they come, must take a step back and realise that he doesn’t know enough about football to progress where we are.
He says they don’t have the budget - well it’s now cost him a lot more money than a DoF would have.

Bit of balance Leicester blames their DOF for relegation why? Because he recommended sacking Cooper for van Nistelrooy !! DOF is supposed to be knowledgeable of football...... man u spent £10m getting ncastle DOF
Sacked him 6mnths later few more like this..... good manager with good owner is sufficient if singing from same hymsheet.

100% agree.
People think that a DOF is the cure for all ills but a decent manager will sort out recruitment, coaching setups etc.
The main problem, for me, is Tan and his advisors choosing and paying out for the correct one.
And that’s easier said than done. We can only live in hope.

Paul it’s definitely not the cure, and I do agree Allan that a good owner along with a good manager would suffice - the problem is that we don’t have a good owner, and we have already seen that his managerial appointments (bar the odd few) have been nothing short of terrible.
At least with an experienced football man in place it bridges that gap between ownership and the pitch, with some actual football guidance given as opposed to the car salesman and Dalman

Mate, I’m not against it but I couldn’t see Tan and a strong DOF working out because the way our owner is. He likes employees to bow down to him.
When choosing a new manager Ken Choo doesn’t have a say, he’s more of a contract/money guy and Tan employs advisors. Who they are etc nobody seems to know but yes Dalman is involved.
DOF or not, employing a great manager is difficult for any club and often just hit and miss. Look at Man Utd’s stream of crap managers and DOFs for example.
