Its a big club, big city, much bigger than Cardiff, and similar in the only game in town

Only Bradford (big loyal fans), York, Rotherham, Doncaster, and Huddersfield as competition, and no Yorkshire man is anywhere near a Lancashire team.

There'll fill it, at outrageous prices to boot!

Two Sheffield Clubs, Leeds Rugby and they are full even if they are not going up and sell out No matter target away games.

We have virtually NO competition, 500,000 in Cardiff and close surrounding areas, 1 mill with in 20 miles.

We are a small club, never a sleeping giant nor will we ever be, consistency in PL, we didn't fill stadium for most PL games and when we did it was more to see the likes of Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal et al.

Will our attendance rise if we go down, it will probably more soulless than it already is under this management group sadly. :bluebird:

Our attendances will drop like a stone next season in L1. When the likes of Derby, Norwich and Leicester were in L1 their attendances were very high. We like to think of ourselves as a big club but we're not. Cities of similar size always have better crowds than us, as well as the 3 I mentioned you have Middlesboro, Southampton, Forest, who all have crowds far bigger than ours, and Sunderlands crowds blow every other club away.
I would say if we are in the top 6 in L1 we can expect maybe 14k to 18k, any lower in the league and they could dip below 12k. A medium sized club at best. :ayatollah:

I daydream we could be like this, a Leeds or an Everton because of our one club capital city status which makes us rather unique, add to that the valleys, vale etc as catchment areas and the fanbase potential is very big. Reality is, even when in the EPL in blue that really wasnt happening. I know many Taffs in that catchment area who support Leeds, Liverpool, and Man u etc that actually hate us . It is a daydream sadly, the reality hurts when you think how bad the numbers and atmos has been this season (with the added draconian stewarding) and how potentially worse it will be next season if relegated and with further fan division and bickering.

on the same type of theme Aston Villa will increase there north stand capacity to add an extra 12,000 people by 2027 .Capacity will then reach approx 50,000 !

We lost a generation or two through the late 70's, 80s, 90s, and only probably started to rise with the move across Sloper road.

All those clubs we talk about were successful during that period. Us Pompey, Citeh lost generations but especially us. Cardiff City meant one thing: hooligans.

All those clubs had hooligan problems, but half of the Cardiff 5K crowd were either full-time, part-time time or casual participants. I was only allowed to go as i told my mum we were in a special boys section in the lower Grandstand and luckily she was quite naive. I know loads of you did, but i wouldn't have taken my daughter to Ninian Park.

Leeds won the last Div 1, Everton won cups and leagues, Southampton at the Dell were runners up to Liverpool, Forest European cup winner. When Cardiff City were on the news it wasn't in the sports section.

Welsh fans in general turn up in big numbers for an event, the rugby shows us that, but away supporters hide the truth of the real local numbers. We can't be arsed to committ to supporting your local side. It's strange, I don't think it's wealth anymore, not sure what it is, perhaps its a tough life here, so don't want to be associated with losers. Perhaps we are similar to a New York crowd and only want to be on the side of winners......

Leeds massive club and will always be.

The biggest supported clubs are always the ones who have spent most of their history in the top division and win trophies, we fail miserably on both counts, you can have 10 million people in your catchment area but they ain't going to turn up for poor standard lower league football, Google Leeds expanding to a 55000 stadium now cos they are on the rise. They had 3 years in league 1 crowds in the mid 20000s ,huge difference

Refreshing to see an old stadium being upgraded

Leeds have the enviable benefit of having Wakefield at its border.

No league club yet a population similar to Cardiff.

We are in no way a small club; we are in the top echelons of British football (maybe not premier League) and have been for pretty much our entire (now 125 year) existence!

How you measure a club’s ‘size’ can, I guess be debatable but to call ours a ‘small’ club is underselling the fortune we have in a local ‘professional’ football team

In many ways, we are a very ‘underachieving’ club, particularly under the Tan era; but ‘small’ we are most definitely not! :ayatollah:

If we could have mustered 3 consecutive seasons in the EPL, we would have started to see how 'big' a club we would be.

Only fans that call us a small club is our fans and swans fans .....can add fans who don't like us! Pundits don't consider us small and we are most definitely not a small club Chris..
