Brannagan's goal

Mon Apr 21, 2025 5:20 pm

In the stadium, I was questioning Horvath because I thought there was no way he should have let a goal in from that distance - not always easy to see clearly to the other end of the stadium from the back of Canton.

But just seen a replay and I was wrong.

What a hit, fair play to him.

Definitely a great strike but it took Horvarth two working days to start moving to attempt the save. And the closing down by Alves was pathetic.

Absolute worldie and was the only way they were gonna score, absolute dreadful team and shows how bad we are we couldn't put them away

Re: Brannagan's goal

Think the only way wasn't going to hit it from there was to have 2 players exactly 10yrds away in front of him instead of in front of kicker ? That way probably wouldn't have received pass or would been blocked... no chance Hovarth as bent away from him.... normally high and wide just our luck went in.

In hindsight Brannagan should have been rushed by our defender. Class finish though

They wasn't close enough....took another look at it and if you notice 2 players stood in front of player standing over ball more than 10yrd away funny thing he wasnt ever going to shoot not that far out!
that's why didn't rush Brannagan.. in reality the players should been standing in line with Brannagan to stop the pass to him or the possibility of a shot.. this simple thing would have prevented the shot ..... but put hands upto a worldy that normally goes high and wide.

The referee marked where the City players could stand, just before they took the free kick me and my brother were saying it looked more than 10 yards that the referee had marked for them to stand before the free kick was takenl

Well said was more than 10yrds but it was totally disorganised..... the two players shouldn't have been in front of kicker as he was never going to shoot ? Who was looking out for Brannagan the most likely ball be passed to! When realised he was going to get ball City player ran across to get in way but ffs he
went passed him by 2yrds as he shot but that aside 99.9 out 100 times that shot goes highwide or straight at keeper unfortunately city's luck it was perfect no chance for Hovarth and not his responsibility the wall being 40yrds out!

The thing is, 99 times out of 100 that ball ends up at the back of the family stand.

It was just a perfect hit by Brannagan and sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say fair play to him for hitting it that well.

One performance does not make oxford dreadful.

I can only comment on how they were on the day as I didn't go to the away game, I just thought they were really poor on Monday just playing hoofball hoping to get set pieces throw ins around our box, but they came for a point and got it so fair play to them but we should be beating teams like that at home and is the reason we're going down

Re: Brannagan's goal

Wed Apr 23, 2025 4:46 pm

it was a championship textbook smash and grab. We didn't deserve to lose, they didn't deserve to win.

How many points did we pick away under Warnock by keeping it simple and hoping for a set play?

Had we recruited Rowett instead of Riza we'd be several points higher than we are now and probably safe. Rowetts generation of management hasn't been infected by the Pep playing the right way virus.

Many wouldn't have wanted him because of his style (winning or not losing) but we have been sold this pup since Harris!

Yeah one game when they were very leggy after Leeds gave them the run around.

They have been a lot better this year.

Brannagan reminds me a lot of Kavanagh. Plays very similarly to him. Always in the right position.

As I’ve said he’s playing with a significant knee injury that requires surgery. At his fittest and best he is a mid to high level championship midfielder (imho) and could play for a team there but has a loyalty to Oxford. Some may say lack of ambition but he is revered by the Oxford fans. Lives locally and does his fishing and has his youth academies. Top bloke as well those who have met him say.

I genuinely can't work out if you are a super troll or a genuine Cardiff fan that happens to love Oxford significantly more. Extending the thread about the daylight robbery goal scorer whilst talking about his fishing trips, waxing lyrical about Ebou Adams, spending weeks calling Cardiff fans clueless etc. Is this a genius at work right before us?

I couldn't care if Brannagan mowed Mother Theresa's grass for free - he ruined my easter.

Pope dying ruined my Easter not the footy.

What a goal though from part time fisherman, part time kids soccer coach full time legend Cam Brannagan.

I took an Exocet once on my little boat at San Carlos and that goal went quicker.

Absolutely unrelated to his goal against Cardiff. He hasn’t sent Cardiff down. There are lots of factors contributing to that but his equaliser isn’t more than a bit part one.

It was tongue in cheek response to the other post but he is a player who if he played for Cardiff who be very very popular.

Alves should have closed him down ODowda was having a right go at him. It’s the youngsters I am disappointed in apart from Isaac Davies none of them show any fight.

Why is it always someone’s fault?

The guy stuck it top bins from 30 odd yards out when the ref made the wall over 10 yards.

Sometimes people have to hold their hands up

Agree shot was one in a 100..only complaint was how disorganised the 2 players were with facing free-kick.. bit more care and probably doesn't shoot. But that's looking at it after the event
