“ A defence of Erol Bulut from a neutral “

Postby worcester_ccfc » Mon Sep 02, 2024 8:46 pm

I listen to the Not The Top 20 (NTT20) podcast. Highly recommend them.

They know their stuff and to be fair, actually watch every Championship game.

This is what George Elek, one of the hosts who supports Oxford, said on today’s show about our performances and Erol Bulut.

Obviously not my opinion but this is what he said:

Cardiff are the team in the league who it feels are getting absolutely no luck at all.

To watch Aaron Ramsey come so close twice especially with the one where Luke Ayling managed to play a 1-2 with the post. You could see his frustration, you could seen in his body language after the second one he was like “when is this going to go in?”

Little did he realise it was in the wrong net when he finally managed to get the ball in the back of the net.

That sums up their season so far.

I know you’re not a massive Erol Bulut fan (the co-host). I probably sit somewhere between you and the Cardiff fans last season who thought it was the second coming.

Right now they feel the prime club to me who might act on results when the actual reality is they are playing nowhere nearly as badly as the results suggest.

They feel like the prime club to pull the rip chord when the manager isn’t necessarily the issue right now.

They need to sit tight because if they carry on playing the way they are then things will turn out better than they currently look.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment of the pod cast host, I think the issue we all feel is that he’s not picking the team on form. Whilst others can see the football we are playing is for us as a club a lot different, we are still not getting the results and that’s mainly down to his team selection. Two games in a row we’ve looked more threatening when he changes the players, but the second game he should have started with the players who changed it in the derby.

Agree that things have not been with us in some of the 4 opening games .
Before a ball was kicked - I thought we would be on 5 pts - 1 Win - 2 Draws and a Lost from the opening 4 games .
The next set of games are going to be make or break - for some and the club - Hope we can turn this around :bluebird:

I can't stand Bulut, we're going nowhere with hìm at the helm. I'm just not sure who should replace him...

Well if he was a defence lawyer Bulut would already have been hanged.
Was it unlucky that Chambers left Clarke a free header.
Is it unlucky that Siopsis keeps getting muscled off the ball
Is it unlucky that Meite and Kanga keep getting picked

Agreed, that some of the football has been neat.
However, basic errors by certain individuals, along with a lack of pace and poor quality up front has resulted in our current league position.
It's obvious that the club will give the manager more time with the squad to improve results.
Nevertheless, it's not as though he's just arrived and large percentage of fans are losing patience.
As a result, the atmosphere amongst Cardiff fans is currently rather toxic.

You forget that the incidents mentioned happened before we went one nil down so that would have changed game if ball went 2ins left and gone in...... he's just giving a viewpoint that's not full of bias nothing more nothing less

What opposition scoring? Yes we miss chances before and after opposition score.... but think you'll find the op is talking about being out of luck with things that happen like rambos post before Sunderland scored. Plus Swansea goal massive miss kick and went straight to own player it couldn't go over bar? like said its just his observation and doesn't alter fact we can't score or defend.. like all games goals change things and we simply dont have any luck something all teams need in that regard. .

Allan you are missing my point the bloke is addressing a small proportion of the game I am talking about it all, he is not addressing the majority of the game and the dire football you make your own luck in this game.

We may have got unlucky, but you also create your own luck in this league.

Playing players out of position and out of form when we have better players on the bench is so frustrating.

Agree he is but only responding to what he as put out! We all know bulut is putting players in wrong positions and playing 2 defensive midfielders at home despite this you cannot say that in both swans & Sunderland games the bit of luck you need was not there the miss kick hit post if both had gone our way the games are changed that really is what guy is saying.

A defence of him is appropriate, an attack wouldn’t seem right seeing as he doesn’t understand what it means.

Ok Allan I see your point , but disagree with the unlucky thing, we are crap mistakes are rife the way we are playing , the effort is lacklustre... . I don't care what this bloke is saying, he is way off

Interesting responses, I can see where George Elek is coming from with his comments.

We have been unlucky in individual moments.

Ramsey could have got a goal if it wasn’t for Ayling being lucky that his clearance rebounded to him and Meite hit the post at Burnley - could easily have gone in.

But ultimately my opinion of Bulut is unchanged despite this. We are just not playing well despite a half decent squad.

Playing wise your right he's way off and can't say we've been unlucky to lose either simply because we dont defend well..... let's see if that bad luck turns our way and we score 1st then see if we can defend a lead something we haven't had privilege to witness so far.

This is what Bulut doesn’t do, make plans and tactics that can change or be effective against different opponents. He’s is completely one dimensional and currently hasn’t got the players play his turgid style of football.

Thankyou much appreciated.... think people should take a look at complete game not the result sometimes ? No one thinks burnley was a 5 nil game and that does happen result doesn't reflect the 90mins ....
We are simply not consistent but maybe if score first that will change be interesting to see what happens when we do.
