FT:

Cardiff City 0-1 Kidderminster Harriers

Cardiff City play Kidderminster (a club not far from me) tonight in a friendly.

It’s being played at Cardiff International Sports Stadium at 7.30pm.

Tickets available and it’s being streamed live on Cardiff City TV.

Kidderminster were relegated from the National League last season after one year in that division.

Ramsey won't be playing spotted in the crowd at wimbeldon.

Just arrived, hope to cheer some goals and more importantly Bulut proving he can manage a football team without sticking to his one tactic, a friendly against a lower tier team a perfect opportunity to try it out Erol, you can do this! My neck has had a big rest this summer! Oh and on top cheering some Dutch goals flying in!

City were narrowly behind at home at the break against non league , having conceded an own-goal right before half-time.

No sign of Ramsey in the squad.

And no goals scored against the mighty Kidderminster.

Hope they all had a good run around though because it's only about the fitness as they always say.

Eh? Hasn't he had a long enough break? After all he's played hardly any football for the last 12 months!

It would have been nice to think that the new attacking football Bulut has promised us might have perhaps led to at least one goal against non league opponents but as you say the game was of no relevance whatsoever.

Yes rambo boy strange but wasn't expecting him to play tonight... not sure playing reserves youngsters and potential 1st team players together is conducive to good football but yes you'd think they could manage a goal against non league team... but for me only relevance is when start league season that's when hopefully buluts masterplan comes together.

What a thoroughly painful evening.

Sitting through Buluts new attacking master plan , which was basically the same Bulut ball as last season, with the same result, dreadful in the final third and no cutting edge in the middle, no progression whatsoever. We couldn’t even get a hold of the football in the first 10 minutes, Kiddi almost had a goal with a one on one too. Meite, Turnbull awful, even me saying Rubin was poor and lacking sharpness. No intensity no press same old Bulut against mighty Harriers. But hey, it’s not about the result it’s about the fitness. Then to find out that the Saes nicked it against the Dutch. We will never hear the last of it , I can’t face watching that final now.

Our New kit looked nice, Joel Colwill looked good. Some of the youngsters looked ok. We are desperate for quality additions who will make the shirt their own, but this system even Haaland will be isolated or coming deep to get the ball. Isaak needs to play off a no 9 he doesn’t work as a lone striker. Great to see lots of Welsh/local players . Hope Erol proves me wrong this season , i really do!

Yeah let's tone down all the Bulut bashing until the season is up and running is it tangledupinblue. Let us all enjoy some of the positivity surrounding the new signings first.

Agree with that.

Everyone knows pre-season friendlies are mainly about fitness. Don’t forget when we got promoted with Warnock we just played non league teams in Cornwall for most of pre season.

As you say, players haven’t been back long so will take a while for them to get up to speed anyway.

There will be plenty of new signings to integrate with the squad, starting with Willock tomorrow.

I go to the odd pre season game (will probably go to Bristol Rovers away) and for us fans it’s just to have a bit of a laugh. Should never take the level of performance too seriously.

Speaking as I saw it this evening. pre season run around or not. Result doesn’t matter I agree, if there was at least some cohesion, progression or game plan, there was very little. Less than a month to kick off. As I say happy for EB to make me eat my words , I hope he does.

Didn’t take long for the Bulut bashing to start. It’s the first game of pre season. Couldn’t care less if we lose all of them, the season starting is the priority. Pre season is all about fitness and not much else

On a positive note i believe the cm second half looked very composed , sprayed the ball around really well.
Believe he was the yank gbdehan?
And our LW not sure who he was , perhaps mafico?

I fully agree it's just a friendly so minutes are the most important thing even though we should be beating teams like these with relative ease, Bulut should be wary when the season starts though because I'd say fans were 50/50 on him staying as it is so it won't take long for the fans to turn if we start badly and the football is dire

How do you get cohesion progression game plan from a team that's thrown together over two weeks with most not played proper football let alone together? See your point but teams lose every friendly and some win every game winners have had bad start season losers go on good run !
What is never good is late signings no time to gel..... but every season brings us hope. For short time at least. :P

It's a nothing game.

Its about fitness levels.

Its not as if our full strength team were playing. We had reserves, kids, and first teamers thrown together.

Some people on this forum throw their toys out way too quickly.

Let's see with the new signings if things have changed, then judge it.

I agree with your points but what I think tangledupinblue is saying is after Bulut talking about more attacking football, last evening was the same boring, predictable crap as last season.

First friendly I know, but surely a friendly against a non league team at home (I know it wasn't at the CCS) is the Ideal opportunity to experiment with new and different formations, tactics etc.

Yes you would think its perfect opportunity to do that but like said its a team thrown together with about 2wks training ... think the main point is bulut can't properly implement whatever his style is using youngsters inferior players who are not going to play this season with couple exceptions ..... maybe see more as friendlies progress and he uses better players that will start season... anyway whilst frustrating can't see improvement pre season is time to see who's going to step up from youngsters to fringe players and be in match day squad come start season..... last night how many will start season 2 maybe And couple in match day squad depending on how many players we get in before then.
