Mystery tonight surrounds Cardiff City’s rumoured signing of Bolton midfielder Josh Vela.
Reports in Lancashire insist the cash-strapped Trotters have accepted a £500,000 bid for the 22-year-old from the Bluebirds, but sources at the Welsh capital club have told WalesOnline that is not the case.
Indeed, Cardiff insist they are not interested in adding Vela to their squad in the January transfer window, let alone making a bid for the player.
The Bluebirds were linked with Vela, a product of the Bolton Academy system, recently and have now reportedly made a move for the midfielder with suggestions they want him in by the end of the week.

That has been ruled out by Cardiff whose targets remain just as they did before the transfer window opened with Vela not seeming to fit in with their shopping plans anyway.
Vela is very much seen as a defensive midfielder, indeed he can play at right-back as well as central midfield and last season was preferred in defence ahead of former Bluebirds’ favourite Kevin McNaughton in the Trotters side.
He has just one goal for Bolton in 60 appearances.
This month Cardiff are keen to sign a winger to add a bit of pace to Russell Slade’s side on the front foot.
WalesOnline revealed yesterday that they have put in a bid for such a player currently at another Championship club and are still awaiting a response.
