4 REALISTIC SIGNINGS TO KEEP US UP

Tue Apr 30, 2013 3:44 pm

Striker - Alfred Finnbogason - 24 goals in 29 games for Heerenveen, target man type player.

Right Midfielder - Sidney Sam (this one may be a stretch) - Pacey German winger, yet to be capped but has a good record for Bayer Leverkusen. May be a big ask to get him here though for a number of reasons.

Right Back - Emmerson Boyce - Contract running out with Wigan who could well be going down. Has experience of staying up in a relegation battle and could be very useful, solid player too.

Centre Back - Paulo Ferreira - Another one who's contract is running out. Would be useful to have his experience at the back in our first season, maybe get him on a one year contract and have him in rotation with Turner/Nugent.

All of these are relatively realistic and would all easily fit within a £25 mil budget. I also think we need a handful of other squad players but these are the only positions I feel need strengthening within the starting XI. Again these are just my opinions, does anyone know of any better options that I have missed?

Agreed, he is quite under the radar too which makes me think he would be sign-able. :ayatollah:

Serpico off CCMB reported on Alfred! The one that gave us the news on gunner, HH and sigurdarson. Said he was out our game against charlton or forest I think.

Striker -- got to be looking at someone who can score 15+ goals, someone like Shane Long, Lukaku on loan?

Winger -- Will Buckley, hes had a solid two seasons in championship, and if Brighton faulter at the final hurdle would be an excellent addition.

Right Back -- Jack Hunt, quality youngster, who gives 100 %, think connolly will be our regular right back though.

Centre Back -- Rob Huth, would be that sort of experienced player we will need in the heart of our defence.

All these I believe would be great additions, a goal getter, two hungry players that want to prove themselves, and experience brought in at the back.

along with 4-5 decent signings i think we would be safe.

Those four signings would not keep us up. You also want to rotate a right back with two centre backs.
Nugent will be lucky to get a game next season he wasn't good enough for the championship thats why we brought Barnett in.

All these are great shouts, especially Jack Hunt & Rob Huth, I hope we have the ability to sign players of this standard. :ayatollah:

I was under the impression that Ferreira could play CB & RB? Maybe I'm wrong but as mentioned above Robert Huth would probably be a better shout. I think Nugent held his ground last season and will only improve as he gets older. In 2 to 3 years he will be a regular fixture in the team. :malky:

CB/RB- Figeroa

Winger- Matt Phillips, Tom Ince, that Redmond guy from Birmingham looks quality. Eagles would be good as well, very versatile.

ST- I wouldn't mind Mackie, he's better than Rudy, Mason and Velikonja. Reminds me of a striker version of Gunnarsson

Re: 4 REALISTIC SIGNINGS TO KEEP US UP

John Brayford
Leon Barnett
Bakary Sako
Kenwyne Jones

Re: 4 REALISTIC SIGNINGS TO KEEP US UP

RB/cb- Figueroa free
Winger- Nathan Redmond
Foward- Wilfred Bony probs not realistic as I would love Lukaku on loan but also not likely to happen what about Austin I think he could do a good job for us in the prem

Honda simply because people have linked him with us hope it turns out to be true as he is class can't see it happening though :ayatollah:

Oh hope we sign Barnet to O think him and Hudson would work well together

So the thread is called realistic signings and people are mentioning Jordan Rhodes, Lukaku and Tom Ince?

Lukaku has asked Chelsea that if he's not in their plans for next year then he'd like to be loaned out again, however this time to a club in Europe (Swansea are actually favourites). This clearly leaves us with a pretty much zero chance. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... ed-1821420

Tom Ince is about to be snatched away from Liverpool by Tottenham who both seem willing to pay in excess of £10 million with add ons after a £6.5m lump sum. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football ... ol-s-noses

Jordan Rhodes was signed for £8m before being proven at a higher level. He has now proved he can score prolifically at Championship level so will take a bid of at least £12 million. And if anyone think we are spending anything like that on one player then they are barking up the wrong Malaysian tree. West Ham look to be favourites with them unable to secure Andy Carroll. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... t-Ham.html
