very brave men those world war 1 boys .... imagine the fear they must have felt going over the top .... at times it was like lambs to the slaughter! ........... my grandfather was at ypes right through the war and spent 6 months after the war in a unit in usk for shell shock and depression .... luckily he got better and went on to have 10 kids with my nan .... he was one of 13 boys from hollybush near tredegar that joined up and only 2 of them returned! so sad!

i,m sure most knew/thought they wouldn,t be coming home.incredibly brave men

I've been to ypes and its the most beautiful town! Strange however as bullet holes can still be found from past battles all over the walls etc..
