Craig Bellamy
" I came back here to help the club win promotion. "
CRAIG Bellamy hailed his Cardiff City team-mates as the “most honest and hard-working group I’ve ever worked with” as the Bluebirds soared four points clear at the top of the Championship.
Bellamy was among the scorers as Cardiff romped to a 4-1 win at Blackburn – their first victory at Rovers since November 1980.
“I was so fortunate last year to win a trophy at Liverpool but I came back here to help the club win promotion,” said Bellamy.
“It would be a dream to do that but the best thing working with this bunch of players is that it’s the most honest and hard-working group I’ve ever worked with. We just wear teams down, we work so hard for each other and that’s why we’re top of the league at this moment.”
Skipper Mark Hudson put City in front with a 30th minute header before Joshua King levelled for Rovers soon after the restart.
But Bellamy restored City’s lead and substitutes Joe Mason and Kim Bo-Kyung added the gloss, the South Korean claiming his first Cardiff goal.
“The way we applied ourselves as a team and the amount of second balls won gave us the chance to play our football,” said manager Malky Mackay. “We created chances, we were clinical in front of goal and now we can relax and see how the other teams get on.”
The only sour note was a fifth booking of the season for Hudson which rules him out of next Saturday’s visit from Peterborough.
