Malky Mackay salutes the Cardiff fans with his famous fist pump

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has dismissed the notion that Cardiff City's past promotion horrors can affect his current squad inisisting he is looking to the future - not the past.

After the 4-1 thrashing of Blackburn Rovers extended the Bluebirds' position at the top of the Championship, the 40-year-old said: "I thought the boys were excellent and I am delighted we caused them so many problems.

This is nothing to do with what has gone on before. It is nothing to do with me or my current squad.

"Twenty new players have come into this club in the last 18 months and this is about, now the future and going forward.

"We need to be consistent and we need to keep momentum and keep picking up points. There are a lot of games coming up and it's a really important period.

"But there are a lot of teams there or there abouts and there will be plenty of teams investing in January."

Star striker Craig Bellamy got on the scoresheet at Ewood Park and said he was proud of the way his team mates have gone about things so far in this Championship season.

The 33-year-old said: "The boys at Cardiff have been superb and have put in such an excellent effort so far this season.

"It is a shame to see Blackburn Rovers outside of the Premier League because they are a fantastic club but it would be a dream come true to get to the Premier League with Cardiff City.

Bellamy's endorsement of the squad in his interview after the game was music to my ears.

What a contrast to last time he was here 2 years ago when he wouldnt even train with the players. If we can take 10+ points from our next 5 games this has gotta be our year surely

I thought MM handled the question well and it was great to hear him blow away any excuse of previous years. I also loved Bellamys interview when he said going up with City would be his greatest achievement, that he had never been with such a squad of players that worked as hard and that it was an honour to be part if it. High praise indeed and a real statement of intent and commitment :ayatollah:

Agree with Carpe Diem. Not only is Malky proving he can work the tactical side of things but he can also man manage with the best. His quote the other week about teams coming over the Severn Bridge and taking no points back was one of the best football quotes of recent times and this one erasing memories of the past few years of failure was greatly needed.

Malky, you are my man crush!

Malky is spot on , the past is irrelevant. At the moment we are just superb. :ayatollah:

It's very important that if Players come into the first eleven and perform well that they are rewarded by given another chance...I'm talking about Conway of course. Every player will be given a chance throughout the season through suspensions and injuries and its important that they are recognised with first team football

Just hope Malcolm doesn't get poached in January by a club trying to survive in the Premiership.
