Decisive December?

Sat Dec 01, 2012 9:56 pm

Tomorrow sees the start of a very challenging month that could make or break our quest for the top 2. 4 home games though so realistically how many points are we looking at? As a pessimist ill say:

December 2012

Cardiff v Sheff Wed - Sun 2 Dec (W)
Blackburn v Cardiff - Fri 7 Dec (D)
Cardiff v Peterborough - Sat 15 Dec (W)
Leicester v Cardiff - Sat 22 Dec (L)
Cardiff v Crystal Palace - Wed 26 Dec (D)
Cardiff v Millwall - Sat 29 Dec (W)

= 11 points.

Any views?

We play 3 teams in the top group i.e. Leicester Palace and Blackburn.
The way I see it is that on balance the top teams should gain about equal points from the mid table/also rans/bottom clubs. The key to the end season posititioning is therefore how you do against your immediate competitors i.e. how many wins you can pick up against them.
A big month.

Ok what if we hit January 10 points behind 2nd place? I'd say automatic was beyond us, so can't see how you can dismiss 6 key games as lightly as you have. Lets hope we are 10 points clear of 3rd though :ayatollah:

im not dismissing any games, they are all as important as each other. cant keeping saying each month is the make or break one.

If we are 10 points off top 2 in jan (which we almost certainly wont even if we lose all 6) its still not over, same as if we were 10 points clear.

If we lose all 6 I'd be amazed if we weren't more than 10 points off 2nd. Perish the thought.

well think about it, third are 2 points behind us so would need 12 points from 5 games for us to be 10 behind them

Leicester are well capable of going on a run and wouldn't put it past them, whilst Boro have 3 out of the next 5 at home plus P'boro and Leeds away. All winnable.

Anyway if we get 3 tomorrow hopefully it will set us up for a big month and then we can push on in January still top of the league :ayatollah:
