Ben Nugent taking a chance

Mon Nov 26, 2012 12:43 pm

There is no doubt that he has bags of confidence and has done fantastic to step in to a team with quality and top of the table.

Even though injured players are slowly coming back Nugent seems like he is not just stepping in but trying to stamp a place in the first 11.

Even though he is young he is trying hard and based on the training ground and pitch he is showing hes good enough and can challenge for a place. :ayatollah:

hes 19 this week, not really that young in football terms, if you are good enough, you should play, regardless of age.

Probably right but of all the positions CB is probably the one where players tend to develope later :ayatollah:

You have to also praise Malky for giving Ben a chance and believing in some of our youngsters. :ayatollah:

You are right there, can you imagine what Jones would have done??? He would have placed a winger at CB before giving Nugent a chance :ayatollah:

whats the point in briniging Jones into it?

does Malky really have a reputation for bringing our kids through? no sign of John yet, Ralls only a bit of time off the bench when we have injuries and he literally had no choice with Nugent

I think it is relevant and I find it still very raw what Jones done with our youth players during his time at the club. Matthew's he destroyed in public and Ramsey & Ledley hated Jones - FACT! Finally we have Malky who is much likely to give youth a chance and never misses a development match...Very encouraging in my opinion and something that wouldn't have happened with Jones. My opinion...!

he'd be on the golf course instead of watching the youth play!

Spot on Annis and MM is really enjoying the set up of all the future of the youth.

The development team is only going to improve youth players and its good for some of our unfit players to get going aswell.

As much as the first team are doing fantastic I do enjoy the postive vibes of the youth set up and everyone coming through! :ayatollah:

He's playing him because he has too, not out of choice. He'll be out of the side before you know it.

Yes but Its MM we are talking about. If you show your worth in training and on the pitch then you earn your place.
