To a certain extent I agree, but too rely on a player who's only just come though the system, would be wrong in my eyes.

Never a big fan of Jones but have to grudgingly admit that he did many positive things for the club.

One of the many negative things about his reign however was the way he viewed the youth set up at the club.

Rarely did any youngster get a first team opportunity under Jones unless they were an exceptional talent. Even then, he made the mistake of not starting Ramsey in the Cup Final and publicly criticising Matthews after the loss at Ipswich.

On top of that a number of promising youngsters were allowed to leave the club without being given much of a chance as Jones seemed much happier to stick with expensive, ageing loan players rather than give youngsters a chance.

That was definitely a failing on Dave Jones' part.

David Jones never released him He would have been an academy kid when Jones was here and the academy staff make the recommendations
