' SIMON LAPPIN EYES WINNING START '

Thu Nov 22, 2012 12:36 pm

New loan-signing Simon Lappin spoke exclusively to cardiffcityfc.co.uk on Wednesday evening after completing his temporary switch to Cardiff City from Norwich City.

Twenty-nine year-old Simon – who is eligible for our next nine fixtures up to and including our New Year’s Day clash at Birmingham City - will wear the number 24 shirt during his spell at the Club.

“The move happened very quickly – the first I heard about it was on Wednesday,” Simon told us. “As soon as I was aware of the interest I was desperate to get down here.

“I spoke to the Manager and said I’d love to come and play – hopefully now I can contribute to the great work the boys have done so far this season.

“I’ve played in a number of positions over the past couple of years at Norwich. I’ve played full-back, midfield and can cover a few positions, so I’ll be happy filling in wherever the Manager sees fit.”

A veteran of the division having been part of the Canaries promotion winning squad of 2011, the Scot told continued: “The Championship is a great division, so competitive. People often say it’s the hardest League to call don’t they?

“Obviously it’s going to be a tough trip to Barnsley on Saturday where we’ll have to earn the right to win. But as I say, the boys have been going great guns, are second in the division and although we know it’ll be a hard game, we’ll be going there looking to win it. Hopefully we can get the result we’re looking for.”

In the meantime, ahead of training tomorrow, the new man added: “It’s a bit of a trek (from Norwich to Cardiff) to be honest yes, but I’m here now, staying at a hotel tonight and looking forward to meeting up with the boys in training tomorrow morning.

“I know David Marshall who I’ve played with before and I’ve played against the likes of Don Cowie and Kevin McNaughton over the years as well. I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
