The reason we are failing away from home...

Wed Nov 07, 2012 8:51 pm

Last season we did very well away from home and were incredibly hard to beat, playing 4-5-1. This season it hasn't worked.

The main reason for this is obvious but people won't like it - KENNY MILLER!

Helgusson is not mobile enough to play up front on his own in a 4-5-1 whereas Miller, for his faults, was perfect - quick, worked his socks off, ran the channels well and could hold the ball up fairly well.

Helgusson is not quick or mobile and can't run the channels so it doesn't work in a 4-5-1 like last season.

4-4-2 hasn't worked either but that's another story - probably more to do with the fact we don't keep the ball very well so fail to control games.

Teams that keep the ball well can hold out better when defending a lead for obvious reasons but mainly because they can dictate play and frustrate the opponents.

That is all.

Open your mind boy. I say we need a more mobile striker up front in a 4-5-1. You disagree?

Wouldnt make any diffrence who we got upfront, there only chasing hoofball away from home when we camp on our own box after taking leads in many games, only to let the other side back as thats what we do away from home, score &camp back and hope. :ayatollah:

Agree with you mate. Miller covered an awful lot of ground and HH isn't suited to that role. We need someone on loan and PDQ. Cameron Jerome would suit. Real shame about Maynard.....costing us big time. Perhaps Velikonja could do it. Mobile with an eye for goal :ayatollah:
