Should nickname him Cinderella, cos he never gets to the ball!

Seriously though, great shot stopper, but poor on crosses and seldom commands his penalty area!

I'd have Heaton as our number one if he was still here as well, but I'm not convinced that Joe Lewis is any better than Marshall to replace him!

That just about sums up every keeper we've had over the last 20 years, including heaton.

Marshall is a liabliity. He will cost us promotion.

Every shot / free kick from 20 or 25 yards he looks vulnerable. Probably panics the defence as they do not feel secure with him there.

Heaton would have been a better choice (did make mistakes but who doesn't?).

Not impressed with Lewis either. Why can't city get a good goalie?

Alexander was far better at crosses than Marshall and Heaton made one howler against Palace last season, but you can count his mistakes from crosses on one hand and at least he wasn't afraid to come off his line and help out the defence!

HOW well did he play in the play off final ?

Re: david marshall

Wed Nov 07, 2012 10:01 am

This thread is unbelievable, he had ONE bad game! he's earnt us couple of points this seasons and had a few Man of the matches as well! It's just when a keeper makes a mistake it usually results in a goal.

Always looking for somebody to blame when we have a bad game. it's shocking!

Think you're mixing Marshall with Bothroyd!

Think you got the complete wrong end of the stick. He's a great shot stopper his problem is commanding the area but heaton was exactlly the same.

You slag off Marshall but then clearly say what keepers dont make mistakes  f*cking clueless

LoL, amazing shot stopper, cannot command area like said above, 1 bad game asking for him to be dropped. Laughable hes been solid most the season , end the day away form an defence is ropey as fk. Think emma needs to go an do her nails. it would be best for everyone.

or the Forest game.

Problem with Marshall is clear to everyone. He's normally a decent shot stopper and to his credit has pulled off a number of fine saves, but he is absolutely shocking at commanding his 6 yard box.
He often resorts to punching the ball rather than claiming it. Which is a little surprising as he's no shortarse. Each time I've watched us, he seems so unsure under pressure, that as many have said on here, it's only a matter of time that one of them goes in! Law of averages I suppose. This can't fill the back 4 with any confidence that the keeper is going to deal with it.

Trouble is, lewis looks even worse than Marshall. Who's our 3rd keeper?

Great thought Emma - lets get rid of a keeper who has conceded 22 goals this season and replace him with someone like Heaton - who has conceded 31 goals this season

The quality of player in front of Heaton is the problem at Bristol City!

Ipswich game wasnt his fault it was Hudson and Connollys. Neither did their job

Not true!

Marshall failed to go for a cross which allowed DJ Campbell a very good opportunity, which he should have scored from, before Marshall then failed to go for another cross that the same player scored from (although illegally), later on!

Marshall admitted his mistake btw!

The one where DJ campbell scored from was both the centre halfs fault. Hudson failed to tackle the crosser who beat him and then Connoly failed to head the ball clear allowing it to fall to DJ Campbell to handball it in

The same problem we have

It's not quite the same problem, as Heaton commands his area better than Marshall and is more confident on crosses!

Whilst we clearly have problems in front of Marshall as well, I wouldn't say it's the same as Bristol City's, as our players in front of Marshall are better than theirs, but apparently not away from home!

Re: david marshall

Wed Nov 07, 2012 1:02 pm

we can't drop marshall after 1 bad game he's saved us in a lot of the games this season huddersfield for starters as for lewis i've only seen him when we played newcastle but he looked a good keeper then

Re: david marshall

Wed Nov 07, 2012 1:26 pm

I have plenty of issues with Malky and several players like his Son always playing but Marshall is one of the better players for us this season.

Yeah sure he had a mare last night but numerous times this season he has got us out the sh!t with big saves, even more so when we are on top of sides and a shot on the break happens.

Instead of picking on Marshall there should be more threads on the Malky and Cowie dream team that we have to endure each game. Kiss must be going mental behind the scenes.

Re: david marshall

Wed Nov 07, 2012 1:32 pm

Id drop him to give him a kick up the ass.Number 2s are there to keep you on your toes. So why not give Lewis a try or even Parrish (whoevers impressing most in training) Marshalls has his strengths ie shot stopping, but some of the freekicks hes let in this year. Birmingham and Leeds for example really should have been dealt with better. He may get complacent if he knows hes starting every single game

Re: david marshall

Wed Nov 07, 2012 1:51 pm

Lmao drop marshal, heatons better? Marshall cost us more points LMAO hes f*cking saved us numerous occasions! huddefeild first game we wuda lost that if it wasnt for the briliant saves from marshy! One bad game dont make a bad player ffs!
