Police looking in

Greater Manchester Police says it is investigating an allegation of racism after Cardiff City's clash with Bolton Wanderers.

The force said it had been informed of a "racist remark" made by a Bolton fan at the game.

It is understood the fan was near the Cardiff City dugout at the time.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police told WalesOnline: "Following the football game at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton, between Cardiff City and Bolton Wanderers, Greater Manchester Police were informed of allegations that a racist remark made by a Bolton Wanderers fan.


"Police are currently working closely with Bolton Wanderers Football Club on an investigation to establish the circumstances and identify the offender, has been launched."

A Cardiff City spokesman said: "Following the Bolton match a member of the home crowd was reported to stadium security and Greater Manchester Police for persistent foul, abusive and aggressive language in close proximity to the away dugout at the Reebok Stadium.

"We remain committed to working with authorities on identifying the culprits'

It's PC bollox most of it. Gives Talksport and 5Live something to talk about. Sadly there are the odd bigots about but over past 20 years it has virtually died out.

In a few months other issues will come to the fore again-hooliganism, players cheating, goal line technology etc....and the matter will go on the backburner again.
