Just say you was in your Eddie Stobart lorry when some geeks started waving at you and it's your job to wave back and it distracted you. And if they ask why you was doing 62 mph you tell em Chief coz the Fooking thing won't go any faster

Sven Ghali wrote:Marc, the M42/M6 Toll Road cameras are set to only operate when a reduced speed limit (i.e LESS than the statutory 70mph) is in place for so-called road safety reasons, such as heavy traffic, poor driving conditions, RTC's etc.
If you were 'flashed' by one of these then it is likely that even with the tolerances allowed for speedometer inaccurracies you were travelling above the 57mph required to trigger the camera off (62mph is unlikely to have been your 'true' speed and maybe a Sat Nav would be a better indicator as they work by triangulation)
Unfortunately, your only hope is that the camera either wasn't loaded OR the camera operator doesn't view the evidence in time to post a 'Notice of Intended Prosecution' to arive at the owner's address WITHIN 14 DAYS OF THE ALLEGED OFFENCE. Unfortunately, both are unlikely in this digital age but neither is entirely unheard of and usually you will receive any 'Summons' within 5 or 6 working days)
Should 3 points be added to your licence they will be 'active' for 3 years but remain on your licence for a 4th year during which you are obliged to inform your insurance company (3 points doesn't usually affect your policy) before you can apply to have them removed 'at a cost' by the DVLA
Alternatively, you MAY (not always) be offered a 'Speed Awareness Course' if your licence is curreny 'clean' but these are often very condescending considering you have crashed, haven't hurt anyone and/or haven't cost the Authorities money in your actions. Slightly belittling BUT if it keeps the points off your licence then go for it if given the opportunity
Sorry to put an dampener on your hopes and I sincerely hope you hear nothing...

Not true, I recently went on a speed awareness course and I was not doing less than 10mph over the limit, I was doing exactly 10mph over the limit
