Born and raised on Donald street I have seen one of the greatest streets in terms of charm and character in not only Cardiff but Wales turned into one of the biggest monstrosities of the city. Years and years of Eastern European immigration as left many us Roathians label it "Albania street". The amount of pram pushing Eastern Europeans on that street is scary.

All the old independant traders that I grew up with are closing down one by one being replaced by Pawnbrokers and f*cking takeaways, a major shame. Not only has the influx of immigrants destroyed the community but the students that have infested the area like rats have further devalued Roath as a whole. I hope to god that Albany road is not the future of this city for everyones sake.

It will be to late once we open our front doors and find it looks like bagdad town center, but thats how the system is going it a shower of shit in many ways. We have to fear for are childrens kids futures the way the country is going. I'm with you on this one, my grandparents had The Albany in the 70's, I went in there a couple of years ago, let's just say it was very different. My grandfather would be gutted if he could see it and my grandmother wouldn't be too comfortable with her walks to the Gaiety!

Moved back to Carmarthen two years ago, after 34 years in Cardiff. Lived in the Heath, and on the Gabalfa estate. Loved every minute. Biggest problem in Cardiff has always been the students. Cathays springs to mind. Just count my blessings that I knew, and worked in, the old Cardiff, especially Schooner Way, West Dock from 76 to 84. After that, in Whitchurch. Sorry to hear about Roath, and probably Plasnewydd. But I was always an incomer myself, so best I don't say too much! Still the best city in the world, though. Get back often, and not just for the football.

Firstly I should say, there's just as many nice immigrants as there are nice locals and just as many cuntish immigrants as there are cuntish locals. I'm a big advocate for pushing local business but I'm not against new businesses coming in and changing the landscape. I'm not going to get involved in the whole immigration debate anyway because some views are very warped on it and it's a pointless argument against those views.

However, I do think places like City Road where there's a curry house or kebab house every other store is a bit excessive. The government is on about decreasing the deficit yadda yadda yadda. If they want to do that then they need to increase the amount of money coming in to the country. Giving premises to individuals who send their profits away to family members in other countries as opposed to putting it back into the local economy isn't helping things.

I am a firm believer that to fix this economic issue we need to focus on improving income generation not decreasing the country's outgoings. Just a shame Thatcher really fucked us on that level though.
