Treco Bay...

Thu Sep 27, 2012 7:22 am

Who's been there recently? Popped down last night as my mrs has young family staying down for week. What an absolute shithole. I reckon out of a full bar there was 5 teeth in there, I owned four of them. No beer because the gas had gone and out of five staff no one new how to do. So I had to be escorted by 'security' to help.
Never met such thick uninterested rude staff in my life. And talk about needing a lick of paint. f*cking hell!!!!!!

And to top it off I spent f*cking £20 trying to win a sponge bob in the grabbers

Reading it back. Pretty long winded rubbish. Your right though. Only allowed in last night if you were under 16 with 5 or more children I think.

Went to work behind the bar there as a student. I lasted a week! All the bar staff were polish and spoke very little English, so I ended up being the only one who spoke decent English there. This meant all customers wanted to be served by me and also I was the one they all complained to. Awful place to work - I didn't get paid at all for that week, months of arguments before it old them to stuff it.

Place is a joke - which is a shame as run properly it could be a little gold mine!

Hasn't been the same for years.

Family sold our caravan there. Used to be great back in the day but now its a dive. Even the caravan park has no go karts any more and even though they claimed they've done it up it just feels like there is less there than there used to be.

It was amazing in my teenage years getting drunk and then going on the go karts.

I remember hanging around on trecco square when the old cinema and chippy was there.
Loads of aberdare, merthyr and rhondda teens would join up to fight boys from other places like newport :ayatollah:
The fair was decent then and the dirty duck was easy to get a pint.
Anyone remember the swimming pools built into the rocks on the seafront up the town that the sea would fill up

I think now plans have been approved to demolish it and create a new marina and flats where the fair is. I remember reading something in the Echo a few months ago. Any locals shed any light on that one :ayatollah:

I used to enjoy that donkey derby roll a ball thing in the fairground and a pint in horatios bar I think it was called.

Back in the 80's they had those tube slides there very popular until some chavs put razor blades on there :?

Apparently they are not doing the big marina plan now as its to costly but they are revamping the harbour area

my old man got a caravan up there, i don't mind it up there, the kids love it, my boy will spend all day in that little football pitch, personally i don't think it's as good as it used to be when i was his age, those buggy's you could rent or the bronco bikes, i think it's to expensive in the shops, 4 fish and chips came to £20 , i take food up with me now. those two arcades can damage the wallet, the fun fair ain't so fun and again to expensive, defiantly needs more things to do up there, and i'd knock that fun fair down and rebuild, with better ride's for both adults and kids, there's a huge space in between the caravan site and the fun fair, they could put kids rides there, and bigger rides in the main park....what happened to that dino park as well?

I used to work in one of the arcades in the Fair between the ages of 14 & 17 during the summer, next to the Donkey Derby.

My overriding memory is loose girls and shit loads of money (had a key for every machine!).

Every morning the guys would be walking up the wooden Figure of 8 hammering the nails / bolts /fixings back in! How that ride never collapsed is beyond me.

Happy days :ayatollah:
