Taking my car for an MOT Test soon--
I usually pay about 50 quid for a test but noticed a few places charging 30 and that place on Penarth Road by the Bridge charging only 20.
Is there a catch --ie do they find more things wrong and rip you off that way or get funny with the re -tests.
Wheres a good cheap place to take oldish cars

I'd be interested to hear anyone's recommendations. I'm sort of window shopping for places to take the car for an MOT. Just want a reliable and cheap as possible MOT.

Personally
I would avoid MOT stations which also carry out repairs full stop. whats saving £20 on the mot when they are going to "find a fault" which they can repair.
Avoid "CWIC VIT" (NAME CHANGED TO PROTECT GUILTY). A s twice they quoted me £800 plus for a job that either did'nt need doing or cost me £4O.
I use a guy in Pencoedcae Pontypridd who charges £55 but no garage affiliated, sensible on things like bulbs gone and you know your not being taken for a mug.
I live in Caerphilly so must be worth the journey

Andrew Wilson Motors in Dinas Powys charges £50 for MOT
What you get though is a fair and honest test carried out, been going there for years and never had a nasty "surprise"
Plus Brian is a CCFC supporter!!!

Total car care in Canton. Cheap and reliable. It's in Anglesey street behind the maltings pub.

Canton cross motors by the Canton cross pub are fair and decent for mots.

I charge £40 for a mot with no retest fee
If it needs bulbs or little things like that I just do it with no extra charge.
