Cardiff City could face Danny Gabbidon after former defender joins Crystal Palace
Cardiff City could face two former defenders on Saturday after Danny Gabbidon joined Darcy Blake at Crystal Palace.
The 33-year-old has joined Cardiff's Championship rivals on a free transfer from QPR, a month after Blake quit the Bluebirds for Selhurst Park.
Wales international Gabbidon played more than 190 games in the Welsh capital between 2000 and 2005 before joining West Ham.
Malky Mackay's team make a second trip to London in the space of a week on Saturday, four days after last night's impressive 2-0 win at Millwall.
Palace boss Dougie Freedman said: "Danny is the type of experienced player we need right now.
"This division throws a lot of games at you. We need strength in depth with Paddy McCarthy still missing."
Former West Brom, Cardiff and West Ham centre-back Gabbidon is keen to kick-start his career after a difficult year at Premier League QPR.
"My season with QPR was a crazy year," he told the Crystal Palace website.
"A lot of stuff went on and I didn't really enjoy my time there to be honest.
"I'm happy to get a club now as I've gone through the summer and waited for things to happen.
"I want to try and enjoy my football again and just go out there and play and not worry about anything else."
Blake joined Palace earlier this summer after failing to establish himself in the Cardiff starting XI under Mackay.

Danny Gabbidon is a spent force, though, isn't he? I'd be surprised if he could stop our attack on Saturday.

Really cannot see Gabby starting unless they have injury problems ? Got a good feeling for Sat !
