Millwall v Cardiff City preview
Blakey's Bootroom: Don't miss our live and interactive Cardiff City discussion show with Bluebirds legend Nathan Blake at 12.30pm, Wednesday

Cardiff City take on Millwall on Tuesday night as Malky Mackay's men look for their first away win of the season.

Here, Terry Phillips provides you with all the information you need ahead of kick-off and makes his prediction. Do you agree? Have your say below

CURRENT FORM

Millwall have been inconsistent, crashing out of the Capital One Cup against Crawley Town on penalties in the first round and then suffering three defeats in five league matches. Their wins have come at Peterborough United 2-1 and against Middlesbrough 3-1 at the New Den.

They have lost twice at home, 2-0 against Blackpool and 4-1 in their latest outing when they travelled to Hull City, and 3-2 at Sheffield Wednesday.

Cardiff have started the new season with three successive home wins, but have yet to win on the road.

LAST TIME AROUND

Cardiff and Millwall could not score a goal between them in two Championship matches last season. They fought out a goalless draw in London and did the same in South Wales.

More than 21,000 fans watched the Cardiff City Stadium battle in March.

Malky Mackay was furious after Aron Gunnarsson's second half header went in and was disallowed.

The result left Cardiff outside the play-off positions following a run which had seen them collect 12 points from 13 games.

KEY DUEL

Mark Hudson v Andy Keogh. The pair were Cardiff City team-mates during 2010-11, but now they go head-to-head. Captain Hudson has been in dominant form for the Bluebirds, while Keogh's movement and workrate has been a feature for Millwall. He has netted 12 goals in 22 starts for the Lions since joining them in January.

Hudson and Matt Connolly will be in direct opposition to Keogh and Darius Henderson. If the Cardiff boys can keep Millwall at bay it will be a huge plus.

OPPOSITION GAFFER RATING

Kenny Jackett is an experienced manager who has been in charge of Watford, Swansea City and now Millwall. He led the Swans to promotion from Division Two in 2004-05. He steered them to the play-off final a year later, but the Swans lost on penalties against a Stephen McPhail inspired Barnsley at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

He twice led Millwall to League One play-off finals, losing against Scunthorpe United in 2009, but winning against Swindon Town to earn promotion the following season.

Jackett tends to favour a more direct approach from his teams, but has done well at Millwall having taken them up and kept them in Championship football. 8/10

PLAYER TO WATCH

Maik Taylor, Millwall's goalkeeper, celebrated his 41st birthday this month. He has made almost 600 first team appearances during a career which started in 1994. But he is holding off the challenge of former Cardiff keeper David Forde for the starting place.

Former Northern Ireland international Taylor has been first choice this season, but may be under pressure after conceding four goals against Hull City at home last time out. The pressure is on for Taylor.

WHO'S THE REF?

Simon Hooper (Wiltshire). In the middle for six matches this season and has booked 10 players. His last Cardiff City match was the 3-0 defeat at Ipswich Town during 2011-12. Overall last season, Hooper booked 89 and sent off seven players in 33 matches.

WHAT THE BOOKIES ARE SAYING?

Cardiff to win (6/4)

Millwall to win (7/4)

Draw (9/4)

Likely line-ups

Millwall (4-4-2)

Maik Taylor, Alan Dunne, Paul Robinson (capt), Shane Lowry, Scott Malone, James Henry, Josh Wright, Nadjim Abdou, Liam Trotter, Andy Keogh, Darius Henderson

Subs:

David Forde (gk), Danny Shittu, Therry Racon, Shaun Batt, Dany N'Guessan, Chris Taylor, Jack Smith, Karleigh Osborne

Cardiff City

(4-4-2)

David Marshall, Kevin McNaughton, Mark Hudson (capt), Matt Connolly, Andrew Taylor, Tommy Smith, Jordon Mutch, Peter Whittingham, Craig Noone, Nicky Maynard, Heidar Helguson.

Subs (from): Joe Lewis (gk), Ben Nugent, Kim Bo-Kyung, Aron Gunnarsson, Craig Bellamy, Joe Mason, Don Cowie

DID YOU KNOW?

The Smith brothers will meet up at Millwall. Tommy plays for Cardiff City, while younger brother Jack is in Millwall's squad and likely to be among the substitutes.

Cardiff striker Nicky Maynard scored the first goal of his professional first team career against Millwall. Maynard was a teenager when he netted for Crewe in a 4-2 win at home against the Lions during April 2006. That was Maynard's professional debut and the only appearance he made in that season.

WALESONLINE PREDICTION: Millwall are hurting after that crushing 4-1 defeat against Hull City. The Bluebirds must beware at the New Den. City will have to wait for their first away win of the season. This one will end 1-1.

Match Preview

Wood set for Lions bow Millwall will add Chris Wood to their squad for the visit of Cardiff. The young New Zealand striker has moved to The Den from West Brom on loan until November 20 and could be in line for an immediate debut after the Lions were thumped 4-1 at Hull on Saturday. Defender Karleigh Osborne faces a fight to win back his place after he was hauled off at half-time with the Tigers 4-0 up, with Alan Dunne taking over at right-back as Millwall reverted to a flat back four. Winger Liam Feeney is out for two months with an ankle injury, full-back Jack Smith remains a doubt with a thigh strain and midfielder Tamika Mkandawire will not be rushed back despite recovering from knee surgery. Malky Mackay could rest star man Craig Bellamy for the first of two trips to the capital this week. Bellamy scored against Leeds on Saturday but is not long back from a calf tear so Mackay may chose to protect his prize asset ahead of the match with Millwall. "We've got two away games coming up and I'm going to be cautious in terms of how he's played over the next couple of weeks," the Bluebirds' boss told the South Wales Echo. "He'll be part of the group for Millwall, but as to whether he's involved we will have to wait and see." Meanwhile Matt Connolly will resume his partnership with skipper Mark Hudson in the centre of Cardiff's defence as Ben Turner is not fit. Turner is joined on the sidelines by Robert Earnshaw (heel), Stephen McPhail (hamstring) and Rudy Gestede (knee) who all miss out through injury.

Wouldn't say Maik Taylor is their player to watch ... They've just signed New Zealand striker Chris Wood from West Brom on loan for a few months, he'll go straight up front and could be tricky!
