Mackay slams Bluebirds backline

Sat Aug 25, 2012 6:34 pm

Cardiff manager Malky Mackay bemoaned his side's defending after the 4-2 derby defeat at Bristol City.

Joe Mason and Heidar Helguson were on target for the Bluebirds, but they were always playing catch-up after Stephen Pearson's first-half opener.
Mackay said: "Without taking anything away from Bristol's performance, we conceded some bad goals. We gave the ball away in poor areas, which is not like us. We started the season defensively strong, but today we didn't keep to that standard.
"If you gift possession to good teams they are going to punish you. We will look at the dvd and identify where we could have done a lot better.
Cardiff were without Craig Bellamy and Ben Turner, both injured but expected to be back in action next week.
Mackay added: "Craig had a tightness in a calf, which meant we couldn't risk him, while Ben has taken a kick on a foot. Both failed fitness nests yesterday."

Just a glitch Malky will be hell bent on putting this right and our attack will develop. :D

Least he's right but he can't criticise but it's up to him to rewrite the wrongs!

While he's running through the DVD he can take a look at his disjointed midfield and see if he can do something with it. We need Mason, Smith and Velikonja up front making intelligent runs for the Midfield to thread balls through too. Lumping the ball upfield for a pensioner isn't working, we need a change of approach and we need it fast !!!
