How the hell can we afford 35k a week

Wed Aug 15, 2012 9:56 pm

Then not pay Sam off????

What the hell is going on???

What's more important. Debt to equity or top class players?

:?:

Debt to equity obviously. That's why so many people were swayed. Yet to see any evidence of it but hey ho

or both?

according to the recent interview with finance director and trust, VT has offered Sam several deals and they are awaiting a response from him.

Tan decides what we spend so yes we can afford Bellamy.

As far as I can see we have made our offers to Sam And he won't be getting anymore from Tan so we wait until 2016.
In the meantime we built the club up.
Interesting to see the club say that Sam hasn't made a formal reply though.

Bellamys effect on season ticket sales {average price £450 i guess} plus shirt print {£12} will im sure go a long way towards paying a large chunk of that off...........So MAYBE? 35K was a sustainable wage for a player with the pulling power/revenue maker that bellamy is in this league and especially with the "hometownboy" factor

Anyone know how many season tickets were sold once talks of bellamy coming back started?
Anyone know how many prints of "bellamy"the club did last time he was here?

Not sure how accurate this will be to go by but just an example as i recall steve borley stating our highest attendances/ticket sales were when we signed star names {prem}:

1000 x £450 = 450
3000x £12 = £36k
Total = £486

plus walk upcrowd atttendances up? & extra shirt sales

Remember VAT. That's £80,000 of your £486,000

Remember on-costs too. That probably makes the cost nearer to £50,000 per week

1) judging by ST sales our attendances will be down on last year even with Bellamy and we couldn't afford the wage bill then. So ST's would have decreased not increased.

2) you have not factored in VAT

3) do we get given the names and numbers? No we buy them, and we also pay the people who put them on the shirts.

35k a week is nearly £1.7 million per year. £3.4 million over the 2 years. Reckless isn't the word

We dont have a lot of choice with Bellamy. At todays prices, 35k a week is a good deal.

Sam? Same as Richard Gough. We made the offer. The offer we thought was best. If he
dont like it he can swivel.

Why don't you look at it this way... We pay £3.4m as a transfer fee for him (which i think is about how much he is worth, and we are paying it in tiny installments), then he is playing for us for free for 2 seasons!!

Or it is the same as paying a £1m fee and paying him £23k a week which I believe is exactly what we spent on K Miller last year was it not?

We couldn't afford to pay him either, let alone a million on top.

Shame, aye. :?

Free transfer, 35k aweek.... less than what we will pay for kimbo, velikonja or mutch... Plus its not exceeding the budget set for players etc.

Re: How the hell can we afford 35k a week

Wed Aug 22, 2012 12:29 pm

35000 a week over his 2 year contract = £3,640,000

Now im not knocking the Bellamy transfer im thrilled to have him back but to put that in perspective take a look at the prize money for the best paying club football competition available:

Image

Conclusion: footballers wages are insane!

Re: How the hell can we afford 35k a week

Wed Aug 22, 2012 12:56 pm

okay, but lets say a team wins the champions league..... i make that

8.3m
+
6.8m for the group stages

and lets say 3.6m (4 wins and a draw in the groups)

so in total thats 18.7m

before you add on tv money

so it is still loads.

Re: How the hell can we afford 35k a week

Wed Aug 22, 2012 12:58 pm

clubs dont care about prize money, its the tv deals and sponsorship that give them most their money

Sam always said he is in charge what he spends on players and wages was down to him :o Look where that got us!!. But what gets me is except the re brand if you want to, but to trust these guys 100% without question is madness and blindness. There is not even a slight bit of caution to many if it really goes tits up you lot will feel devastated and let down. But knowing some on here it wont be the Malaysians fault it would be KCBs fault as these guys are honrouble.

Re: How the hell can we afford 35k a week

Simply put, we can't afford it.

Bellamy on £35k a week is a bargain for a top class player, but a bargain we probably can't afford.

We owe this money to VT as he racks up the debts against the club at 7% APR and we are riding for a fall.

I would say I fear for this club if we don't go up this season, but instead I am just ashamed and betrayed by our present.

Slag me off all you will, I don't care, they are facts and I can't comprehend how so many of you hero worship VT.

I can picture the scene when he was in a JD Sports looking at kits and much like Andy in Little Britain said "I want that one" pointing at the red top in front of him, incredibly and shamefully our fans much like Lou pandered to his every whim.

KEEP CARDIFF BLUE!!
