Helgusson Signing?

Wed Aug 01, 2012 10:18 pm

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay is signing QPR striker Heidar Helguson on a free transfer.
The former Iceland centre forward, 34, is not part of Mark Hughes' plans at Loftus Road.

Interested: Cardiff boss Mackay is set to sign Helguson (left) on a free transfer
Mackay remains keen on adding Craig Bellamy from Liverpool. QPR are also continuing to consider a move for Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-yueng, 23.
Owner Tony Fernandes said: 'Discussions are continuing with Celtic.'

Hmmm
mixed thoughts!

I believe he would be a decent signing and would score 10-15 goals for us next season at most, which is a fair amount for a target man.

But wouldn't signing him mean the end of our pursuit for a multi-million pound striker in the Maynard/Cox mould? Would be a shame if that's the case.

Daily mail also said there was going to be a new series of gavin and stacey

James Corden ruled it out hours later

Take it with a pinch of salt

Wow if he's 5ft10 then i'd be shocked and really didn't know that since he scores alot of goals with his head!

Just checked Wiki and it says he is but i could have sworn he was taller!

Martin Kelly and Tommy Smith.

If we do sign Martin Kelly on loan then it really would be a cracking signing!

Maybe not the big name that everyone would recognise, but in my opinion, the type of signing that could get us promoted. :ayatollah:

I really think he's a fantastic defender at right-back or centre back :ayatollah:

I wholly agree; brilliant prospect but there's absolutely no chance whatsoever of him signing for us, unfortunately.

I hear that Rio fancies coming to Cardiff

Loved the atmos here when he played against us for Leeds, he is also willing to take a huge pay cut, as long as the club agree to disregard anything he posts on twitter - yes, that is his only condition

But in reality, who are we to know who will be at the club when the window closes, it's fun to speculate and dream, but I sometimes think we shouldn't get our hopes up too high

Helguson would be a good signing. Free transfer, knows where the goal is, great in the air and has experienced promotion to the premier league before. Next signing to be another full back please :ayatollah:

Legs are gone. A Kev Campbell type signing, probably would have similar returns too.

Re: Helgusson Signing?

Would be a good signing, quality player at this level, even at 34. People said last year why didn't we go for a Jason Roberts type player last year and how well Reading did because they took a punt. Well if the story is right, we do that this season people still complain.
