Olympic stadium

Fair play the stadium looks good considering it was built on a budget (by thousands of foreigners, but that's not the purpose of this thread) but It's gonna make a terrible football stadium. What are West Ham thinking?

I hope you have a Masters degree in architecture to back up that claim. It might be a great stadium, it might not. It depends entirely on the views of the beholder.

Looks nice but not too sure about it being a football stadium. The surroundings look really good but can't imagine thousands of football fans being in bars around the stadium especially when there is so many Olympic facilities there. Just doesn't seem right lol Are there many bars and pubs around the ground?

It's next to Westfield which is basically something like 2 poss 3 x the size of St David's Two and full of bars and restaurants not the kind of place a millwall/west ham derby belongs thats for sure.

Was down there yesterday great vibe - a lot of athletes just mingling with the tourists (you can spot em easily cos of the big pass tags) didn't recognise anyone but did see three members of the croation team in full tracksuits all having a fag

:o

That's what I mean, it doesn't seem a place for football fans. I could be wrong though

West Ham were thinking of demolishing it & building a new one, weren't they???

For starters the surrounding area isn't great for football fans, and personally I don't like stadiums with athletics tracks around them. West Ham might as well stick with Upton. And why the f**k are do Leyton Orient want to share with West Ham?

This is why it won't be a great football stadium

An Athletics field is much much smaller than a football pitch

You still can't see most of the pitch

True, but the size of the running track is fixed.

That's a bit irrelevant? "Foreigners work just as hard, if not, harder than us Brits..

He put it there because he knew some idiot would bring it up, specifically saying he doesn't want that argument on this thread as it is indeed, irrelevant.

If West Ham take it on it will have stands that move back and forth.

Manchester City play at the Etihad, originally built for the commonwealth games. I think it took them a year to convert it and its a great stadium. Not a patch on Maine Rd. For the atmosphere and that, but just goes to show how quickly an athletics stadium can be turned into a top notch ground.
