Most of China's clubs play in red, green and white, yellow or light blue. Most chinese fans support european clubs like Arsenal, Manchester, Liverpool, Milan, Madrid. Madrid have a red kit that they frequently use in Asia for appeal purposes. Why else would they have it? They are a marketing club. They bought Beckham to sell the Madrid brand and boost their income stream. They've tapped every avenue for income. Granted they have success but they're still milking it elsewhere.

Yes they are successful but they are also respectful and play in red because they know it appeals to the red chinese communist government and major businesses affiliated with the corrupt government.

If every Chinese club played in red, kits would clash. Thats pretty self explanatory. Light blue isn't looked down upon in the same way a dark blue or navy is. Our badge was dark blue and our kit was fairly dark too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_in_Chinese_culture

Read that.

Red, corresponding with fire, symbolizes good fortune and joy. Red is found everywhere during Chinese New Year and other holidays and family gatherings. A red envelope is a monetary gift which is given in Chinese society during holiday or special occasions. The red color of the packet symbolizes good luck. Red is strictly forbidden at funerals as it is a traditionally symbolic color of happiness.[1]

In modern China, red remains a very popular color and is affiliated with and used by the Communist government.

The government in China that Tan is affiliated are red. They are a communist party that have red colours. Red will represent their party so why would blue appeal to them? Please tell me why blue would appeal to them when it does not represent their colours? Why do you think Kenny Huang was interested in Liverpool?

Those in financial power are affiliated massively with the chinese communist party and we all know of the term 'favours for the boys'. Corruption is massive in China and many businessmen stay loyal to their party in order to get pardons from the government in question. As that so happens at the time its the communist party who's colours are red. Obviously there will be other companies in China with no affiliation to the government but the main companies are and its fact. Just do some research on the topic of corruption in China. So the real question should be do we want such corrupt organisations potentially being involved with our club? Risky, but thats modern China for you and we dont need to worry until it happens, if it does.

The champions play in red at home and yellow away. Yellow is looked upon as a beautiful colour in china but its not red. Red is far more favoured over any other colour. Obviously there will be people who will wear dark blue just like there are people over here who do not believe in horoscopes or that nonsense but there are a lot who do and in a country like China that has a population over 1bn that is one hell of a lot of people.

Most Chinese clubs that play in blue play in a lighter blue. Shanghai Shenhua are the only team that play in a dark blue close to our colour and they have red stripes on the kit for neutrality but this still isn't looked upon as greatly as just red.

Dalian Aerbin have only just joined the league in 2012 so there is nothing to suggest fans will get behind them. Attendances at games in China do not count as support. Many people will just go to games to see football but really support European clubs.

Obviously there will be more than just red in China otherwise the world would be a boring place and people's views are different however the general feeling towards blue is immortality and death. Why would anyone use a colour that symbolises death to attract a Chinese investor? Its the equivalent of smearing yourself in excrement before going on the pull. When you go on the pull you dress to appeal to the current market and the current market in Chinese is red because of culture as well as politics. Red is a warm and welcoming colour in China so thats what you use.

The only place in the world where dark blue symbolises anything good is Iran. So unless we get an Iranian investor then it wont appeal to anyone.

Thats the truth on the matter, from a Chinese friend at my university who supports Liverpool FC. He says in time fans will get behind Cardiff City but his main concern is no tour has been looked at for China this summer. He said stuff like that should have been sorted first.

I think the last sentence of your post really gets to the crux of the matter.

You are asking readers to accept what you claim to be the truth based upon the word of a single UK based student of Chinese origin who is a Liverpool fan. Not exactly the most authoritative source of supporting evidence is it?

As for some of the other individual claims and comments you make in your post , well done for spotting that the Chinese Communist Party colour is red. If you hadn`t told us that , we would have had to live in ignorance of that fact forever

Look at the full list of top level Chinese football clubs and you will see that more have blue kits than red ones , including the most successful club since the league was started and the current biggest club who have just signed up Didier Drogba. That (dark) blue kit of their s has certainly held back investment in that club hasn`t it

You say changing to a red kit will appeal to the Chinese Communist Party , but I can`t see that political organisation using party funds to invest in CCFC anytime soon , can you?

You also suggest that successsful businessman in China are only so because of corrupt links with the government there , then go on to say that Vincent Tan is "affiliated" to that government. Do you have any evidence that he has any such affiliation and , if so , are you suggesting he is therefore a corrupt businessman. Also , will he then be changing the corporate colours of his principal business Berjaya Corporation from their longstanding blue and gold to curry favour on his Chinese projects or get "pardons" (I assume you actually meant "favours" rather than "pardons")?

As for Real Madrid , are you aware that the overwhelming majority of kits they sell worldwide , including all parts of Asia , are their famous first team colours of white? The red kit you refer to is their little used 3rd kit but it has been used on several occasions in various parts of the globe for decades - it is nothing to do with advertising in Asis. Older CCFC fans may remeber them playing against our club at Ninian Park in 1971 when they wore red - I am not aware that it was to accede to the wishes of the local Labour party.

You say that dark blue is associated in China with both immortality and death. How can it be both as the two things are mutually exclusive? Also , can`t see Vincent Tan accepting the blue as a good corporate colour for his business empire if it was so much of a problem.

Whilst I appreciate everyone`s views on the colour change thing , it would appear that your particular post is based on some fairly insecure foundations in terms of word of mouth sources and factual basis.

Its well known, im not researching the topic for you. Its well known that his businesses in Malaysia, especially his gambling ones have caused rumbles because of the business ethics used. Look it up.

Thats because they white is a good colour too. However, they never wear their black or dark blue away strip in Asia. Again, look it up. They always wear white and their red kits. Thats a fact. Your point is also stupid. In Asia there are millions of potential sales, not so much in Wales rendering that point beyond stupid. Stop pointing out the frigging obvious. I knew all this stuff from playing FIFA when I was like 5.

You say that dark blue is associated in China with both immortality and death. How can it be both as the two things are mutually exclusive? Also , can`t see Vincent Tan accepting the blue as a good corporate colour for his business empire if it was so much of a problem.

They are exclusive are they? Maybe in our culture but Asian culture is completely different. Things such as the soul being separate from the body and stuff like that is a common belief. Stop being so damn ignorant. Its a fact that in China dark blue is a symbolism of death.

We played in what they regard as dark blue. Completely different to light blue which is immortality. Thank you. Goodbye, you have been educated on Asian cultures, idiot.

Yeah cheers mate. It would appear your views are on the basis of sheer ignorance, lack of education and your narrow minded approach to Cardiff City being only blue.

Really couldn't give a shit about China, were not a Chinese team!
Were Cardiff City
I'm not pro red or pro blue but I will always remember Cardiff as it was BLUE but I still support Cardiff City!

I hope this is temporary, and in future reverse the kits again!

I understand VT's business plan and it should work favorable in the future with additional investors maybe from china but I think Modern Football is wrong!, Cardiff City is a business now with premier league ambitions
But to be honest im not all that bothered about the prem!, I feel like VT has hijacked the club and changed us so we can appeal to the far east by our premier league football and far east look about our kit

Like I said it's very clever! and I am not pro red and blue for this reason and also I understand the debts we have which could be costly in the future!

Overall I have mixed feelings on the topic, I'll continue to wear blue and will always still support the Cardiff City!

NICE QUOTE FROM SOMETHING OR SOMEONE BUT CAN`T SEE ANY RELEVANCE TO A LINK BETWEEN THE CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY AND INVESTING IN CCFC

I DIDN`T SAY MOST KITS ARE BLUE I SAID THAT MORE ARE BLUE THAN RED , AS CONFIRMED BY THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THE CHINESE SUPERLEAGUE. BUT THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT "CHATTING SHIT" AND "UNEDUCATED BILE"

You say changing to a red kit will appeal to the Chinese Communist Party , but I can`t see that political organisation using party funds to invest in CCFC anytime soon , can you?

Depends on where we are. Its important the foundations are in place though. You dont get people queuing up before the shop is built. You put the infrastructure in place first.

SO ARE YOU REALLY CLAIMING THAT , AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE , THE COMMUNIST PARTY WILL INVEST IN CCFC?

You also suggest that successsful businessman in China are only so because of corrupt links with the government there , then go on to say that Vincent Tan is "affiliated" to that government. IT IS "WELL KNOWN" YOU SAY , BUT YOU ALSO ADMIT YOU HAVE NOT RESEARCHED IT.AND ARE YOU NOW CONFIRMING THAT YOU BELIEVE VINCENT TAN TO BE A CORRUPT BUSINESSMAN(THE WORDING OF YOUR RESPONSE SUGGESTS SO)?

As for Real Madrid , are you aware that the overwhelming majority of kits they sell worldwide , including all parts of Asia , are their famous first team colours of white? YOU SAY THEY NEVER WEAR THEIR BLACK OR DARK BLUE KIT IN ASIA.ARE YOU SURE , BECAUSE I RECALL SEING A TEAM CALLING THEMSELVES REAL MADRID PLAYING IN CHINA IN THE VERY SAME COLOURS A FEW YEARS AGO.

I AGREE THAT THERE ARE MILLIONS OF POTENTIAL REPLICA KIT SALES IN ASIA. LESS WELL KNOWN TEAMS ANY TIME SOON (IF EVER).HOWEVER THE POINT THAT YOU SEEM UNWILLING OR UNABLE TO GRASP IS THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF THAT MARKET IS ALREADY TAKEN UP BY SALES OF TOP EUROPEAN TEAMS` SHIRTS (IN A VARIETY OF COLOURS) THAT WILL NOT BE CONVERTED TO SALES OF OTHER

You say that dark blue is associated in China with both immortality and death. How can it be both as the two things are mutually exclusive? Also , can`t see Vincent Tan accepting the blue as a good corporate colour for his business empire if it was so much of a problem.

I AM NOT "DAMN IGNORANT" THANKS. THE SOUL BEING SEPERATE FROM THE BODY IS A DIFFERENT ISSUE. IMMORTALITY AND DEATH ARE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE THINGS.

AND YOUR COMMENTS ON VT`S CHOICE OF CORPORATE COLOURS FOR BERJAYA?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_in_Chinese_culture

We played in what they regard as dark blue. Completely different to light blue which is immortality. Thank you. Goodbye, you have been educated on Asian cultures, idiot.

I HAVE BEEN QUITE HAPPY TO SEEK EDUCATION ON ASIAN CULTURES BY MY PROFESSIONAL WORK COLLEAGUES WHO HAVE OPERATED ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS IN SUCH CULTURES FOR MANY YEARS. THEY WILL BE DELIGHTED TO HEAR THAT YOUR OPINION OVERRIDES THEIRS AND THAT , BY ASSOCIATION , THEY ARE THEREFORE "IDIOTS"

I AM ALSO QUITE HAPPY WITH MY LEVEL OF GENERAL AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION THANKS. AM I RIGHT IN THINKING THAT YOURS HAS SO FAR TAKEN YOU PART WAY THROUGH A DEGREE COURSE IN AN UNDISCLOSED SUBJECT?
