Craig Bellamy reacts to Cardiff speculation!

WALES star Craig Bellamy has insisted he will not comment on speculation linking him with a sensational return to his hometown club Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds' Malaysian owners want to re-sign Liverpool striker Bellamy - who spent a season on loan at Cardiff in the 2010-11 campaign - but face mounting opposition from Queen Park Rangers, the former Wales boss Mark Hughes having also worked with the 32-year-old at Blackburn and Manchester City.

New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers met Bellamy for the first time last week and has stressed that only something ''unique or personal'' would persuade him to let the Cardiff-born striker leave Anfield.

Such reasons could certainly persuade Bellamy to drop down into the Championship again and finish the job of taking Cardiff into the Premier League.

Cardiff missed out in the play-offs two seasons ago when Bellamy was at the club - and it is understood that he would relish the prospect of steering the Bluebirds into the top flight after a 50-year absence.

But as he met up with the rest of Stuart Pearce's London 2012 squad at Team GB'S kitting out day today, the 69-times capped Bellamy was playing his cards close to his chest about a possible return home.

''I've not said anything about my future and I'm not going to,'' he said.

''I play for Liverpool and Wales and I'm representing Great Britain at the Olympics - and that is it.

''But as long as I'm fit I'll be playing football no matter what.''

Bellamy joins captain Ryan Giggs and Manchester City defender Micah Richards as the three players aged over 23 in Pearce's 18-man squad.

He is one of five Welshmen in the squad with Giggs, current Wales skipper Aaron Ramsey and Swansea City pair Joe Allen and Neil Taylor also selected.

Speaking about his Olympic selection, Bellamy said: ''It's a great achievement. When you look at the players who were all short-listed to be part of this, it's an incredible to be selected as one of the three over-age players.

''It's also testament to where I've been in my career as well.

''I'm turning 33 next week and my fitness levels and speed are still there, and that's because I've worked really hard after all the injuries I've had.

''I'm just very proud and - do you know what - I'm very proud of myself and I don't mind saying that as well.

''It's not just because of this, but where I've come from and how hard I've had to work throughout my career.

''There's been lots of ups and down but I actually look back for the first time and can be very happy about things.''

Not surprising that nothing will happen until after the Olympics it clearly means a lot too him. When you think he hasn't win a lot as a player this is his focus.

Seems like he's using us to get what he wants. There's no way he is going to chose us over liverpool if he thinks he can get another year or 2 at anfield, or a deal at any other prem league club for that matter. He couldn't give a fuk about cardiff or us fans. All he's concerned about is getting as much money as he can. I hope he stays at liverpool, the club he loves and supported since a kid...or was it celtic? Or Norwich? Or newcastle...

He's already got "another year or 2 at anfield" as he's on a contract  If it's just about money then all he has to do is carry on because Liverpool will have to honour that contract.

Let's just wait and see, from what I hear you may well regret some of these words :ayatollah:
