FC Sion beat Celtic over 2 legs last season in the Europa League, before being thrown out of the competition for something that had no bearing on the results.

Swiss teams constantly overachieve in Europe, a marker of how good a league is. Scottish teams do not.

You stated Laffertys move is a step down - said nothing about money. It may well be for financial reasons, but there is a reason Swiss teams can pay that kind of wage - the standard of football is ostenibly better.
