MM & the Malaysians want top 2 this season....

Thu Jun 28, 2012 2:03 pm

....and presumably the budget is in their minds substantial enough to achieve this and from what was said at the meeting last night, MM can attract a better quality of player and offer a good future at Cardiff.

In theory it sounds brilliant and very exciting.

In reality.....I keep thinking Leicester last season.

I hope I'm wrong. :ayatollah:

Top 2, thats what they want and nothing less, very exciting.

But TG did say the same 2 years ago in a shareholders meeting that I attended, he also stated no more play offs.

Money to back it now though Annis?
Or, do you believe we will end up with loans and cast-offs?

I'd like to think we will be buying players this summer, but if some out of contract players arrive who can do a job then I certainly would welcome them in. We need a bigger squad this season, and certainly more strength in depth. So I can see 7 or 8 players coming in over the coming weeks, some paid for, some out of contract experienced players, and some kids from lower legues? I hope that's a fair assumption?

Sounds good enough to me.
Still, even the out of contract better players, will require a better wage offer than other clubs, to attract them here.

the problem is with leicester last season is they panicked when results weren't going their way and sacked their manager before his team could gel properly! it was very similar if you look at reading, where they had a really slow start but their 2nd half of the season was superb, as they stuck with their manager!.... thats why i think we will fare much better if we got similar funds to them because we got a manager who knows what he needs and wants, and has time to show it! :ayatollah:

After losing to Blackpool in 2010 playoff final the Malaysians said they definitely wanted top 2 the following season to avoid having to go through disappointment of missing out in the playoffs. So they aren't saying anything new and this season could and is more likely than not to end the same way as the last three years.

Leicester? Nothing like us really. Sven was given a blank cheque to go out and
sign whoever he wanted. He was out of touch, bought whatever big name he
could afford.

Malky (yes, I KNOW he takes too long  ) does not believe in wasting money
and checks, double-checks and treble-checks the players he's after

And then gets turned down or they go elsewhere
