Wales to begin 2014 World Cup campaign at Cardiff City Stadium
Jun 27 2012

The Cardiff City Stadium
WALES' road to Brazil will begin in Cardiff after the FAW confirmed their opening World Cup home fixtures will be held at Cardiff City Stadium.

Chris Coleman's men will take on Belgium at the home of Cardiff City on September 7 before using the same venue for the visit of celtic rivals Scotland on October 12.

But Coleman has made good on his promises to take games away from the capital by making the most of Swansea City's Liberty Stadium with the clash with Euro 2012 finalists Croatia being staged at the home of the Swans on March 26 2013.

It forms part of new details released by the FAW ahead of the forthcoming World Cup qualifying campaign, including an additional friendly against Austria to be held at the Liberty Stadium on February 6.

Wales' remaining Group A home games against Serbia and John Toshack's Macedonia in September and October 2013 will be decided in the future, with a return to the Millennium Stadium potentially on the cards if qualification is in sight.

But for now Wales have opted to stick with using club grounds in the hope of generating greater atmospheres with big gates, the game with Scotland already tipped to be a sell-out.

Wales also have an August friendly with Bosnia arranged for August 15 at Llanelli's Parc y Scarlets, the final warm-up fixture for Coleman before competitive action begins against a Belgium side including Vincent Kompany and new Chelsea signing Eden Hazard.

Wales will take on Serbia four days after the Belgium opener, with the venue still to be announced, Croatia hosting Wales four days after the Scotland fixture.

The FAW say ticketing information will be available shortly while supporters club membership is open now.

Thought the Scotland game would definitely go to the Millenium i would estimate a crowd of at least 40K for that fixture so tickets for the CCS will be at a premium. Had details from the Welsh FA yesterday on ticket prices which are £20 for Adults but if you purchase a package of all 5 games the cost is £75 or £15 a match :ayatollah:
