Cardiff City FC Playing At The Millennium Stadium?

Wed Jun 27, 2012 3:47 pm

Does anyone ever think there will be a need to ever play a competitive game there again? If ever we grew to the size that it may be considered would be great. Nice to know it could be at our disposal for a very big game one day! :ayatollah:

Yeah i'm sure if Wales needed a game to qualify or if Wales got to the play-offs again just like Euro 2004 they would use it, the FAW love the money.

Dare I say it, could it be used for a Cardiff city european game? ;) . I really think its quite a shame that Cardiff as a city have never really been able to show off that stadium on the european football stage. Obvioulsy the CCS is more than adequate. But if ever we were ever in a position to play a big European team for any particular reason. :ayatollah:

I think it would just be played at the CCS mate if we somehow got to Europe :ayatollah:

If we went up and swansea were also still in the premier league, I think it would be great to hold the south wales derby in the millstad or atleast the home leg. turn it into an event. Instead of demonising the rivalry, use it to help sell wales to the world like they do with the international rugby but without the embarrassing shit that gos with the rugby lol. Be great for our economy.

Sure, it could be at our disposal.

For a sizeable fee.

Would be a very sizeable fee.

The WRU currently thank you for your forward thinking...

In the 3 seasons you were in the championship you averaged 15,366.

In the same 3 seasons (inc ninian park) our average attendance was 20651.

Its a shame that premier league status is what it took to get you close to your capacity. Does that means 5,000 more rugby fans must be scattered around your ground on matchday!! :ayatollah:

I do feel that the stadium should be put to some use in the world of football.
Be it the league cup, or just a home derby.
I do feel that a Cardiff home derby would fuel enough fans to go, as it would be much better with half Swansea, and half Cardiff fans.
The only problem then comes from paying 'rent' to the WRU.

Quite funny how Swansea have a go at us for attendances past few seasons us 'Bottling it' as other clubs fan say as pulled more fans in? Hmmm also meaning fans stick by the team.

Swansea City asked for a 5,700 extension when they went up and it got rejected and they were told 'They wouldnt get enough' and got offered 1,500 extension and Swansea didnt want it. Thats quite funny and its true.

It is not about there attendances its about our own fans making right delusional comments and them jumping on it and having a right laugh.

Cardiff's average attendance in the last 10 seasons;

2001/02 - 12,522
2002/03 - 13,049
2003/04 - 15,569
2004/05 - 13,029
2005/06 - 11,802
2006/07 - 15,224
2007/08 - 13,939
2008/09 - 18,449
2009/10 - 20,717
2010/11 - 23,198
2011/12 - 22,100

Total average attendance - 179,598

Swansea's average attendance in the last 10 seasons;

2001/02 - 3,691
2002/03 - 5,159
2003/04 - 6,853
2004/05 - 8,457
2005/06 - 14,111
2006/07 - 12,720
2007/08 - 13,519
2008/09 - 15,186
2009/10 - 15,407
2010/11 - 15,507
2011/12 - 19,946

Total average attendance - 130,556

So if we had the same average attendance as the 2011/12 season in the 2012/13 season you would need an average attendance next season of 71,142 to be level par with us.

I rest my case. :ayatollah:

Re: Cardiff City FC Playing At The Millennium Stadium?

f*cking embarassing.

Swansea arent talking about playing their games in a 75,000 seater stadium so why we are having a go at their attendances im not too sure.

WE are talking about playing our games in a 75,000 stadium so WE shoud look at OUR attendances to see if t would be viable.

Only in the last 3 years have we been around the 20,000 mark and that was due to false promises and ridiculous spending. before that we were averaging around 13,500,14,000 in the Championship. We do not sell out our stadium now and couldnt even sell out for West Ham play-offs so I find the situation ridiculous int he extreme.

Why must we make ourselves a target for ridicule? How about we actually achieve something first before wildly planning for the great demand
