You never know it didn't look on before, the cash is there and he would love to come back and im sure he wants to be a part of Malkys plans. This article does make it seem a bit more likely. :D

Cardiff City ready to make new swoop for Liverpool FC striker Craig Bellamy
by Terry Phillips, Western MailJun 24 2012

Craig Bellamy

Manager Malky Mackay wants to include the striker in his Championship squad for 2012-13.

CARDIFF City are keen to bring Wales international Craig Bellamy home again – and the club’s Malaysian investors are working on ways to finance a return.

There has not yet been any approach from Cardiff to either Liverpool or Bellamy, but manager Malky Mackay wants to include the striker in his Championship squad for 2012-13.

Mackay’s interest in his former Norwich clubmate is clear after he tried to bring Bellamy back to Cardiff last season following his initial season loan under Dave Jones.

Mackay is not likely to let the chance go by of asking Liverpool’s new manager – his pal Brendan Rodgers – about the chances of signing Bellamy for next season.

A source close to Mackay said: “There has been absolutely no contact between Cardiff City and either Craig Bellamy or Liverpool.”

But there has been no denial that an approach may be made over the next few weeks.

Bellamy’s house is still only a short distance from the club’s Vale of Glamorgan Resort training ground and he retains a burning desire to help the Bluebirds earn promotion to the Premier League.

“I still want this club to get into the Premier,” said Bellamy two seasons ago.

“I want to play for Cardiff City.”

He said he was keen on remaining for on for another season following the play-off failure under Dave Jones, but grasped the chance to join Liverpool from Manchester City.

Mackay completely understood Bellamy’s decision on a move to Anfield, saying: “You’re talking about Liverpool, which is a huge club.”

The two men have kept in touch since Bellamy moved on and the striker fits Mackay’s demands about players who are committed to the Bluebirds cause.

Bellamy, 32, is halfway through a two-year contract with Liverpool. The Bluebirds hope he would be open to an approach from them and City’s hierarchy are understood to be working out the finances for any deal.

City’s Malaysian owners have announced a £100m investment plan and a marquee signing of Bellamy’s profile would help ease any discontent over the change of club home colours from blue to red.

Bellamy scored 11 goals in 35 games for Cardiff during 2010-2011, but their promotion chase faltered when he got injured against Reading in the play-offs.

Mackay has already signed midfielder Jordan Mutch for £2m from Birmingham and wants to bring in up to eight more new players by the time the new Championship season commences.

New capture Mutch is adamant he is heading for the Premier League with the Bluebirds.

The England Under-21 man has already had a taste of the big time, making his Birmingham debut against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

And the 20-year-old is adamant he will be sampling top-level football once more following his £2m move to South Wales.

“I changed completely as a player during that time, thanks to the manager. I played more than 20 first-team matches in a row and really enjoyed it,” he said.

“It was a time when I grew as a player, became stronger physically and matured.

“That experience played a big part in my decision to sign for Cardiff. I believe manager Malky Mackay can help me progress again and develop into a footballer capable of playing regularly at Premier level.

“Cardiff are a club with huge ambition and the aim is the Premier League.

“In so many ways this football club is a Premier League one in waiting. That’s why I am here and it’s up to the players to earn the results we need.”

Mackay has been given substantial funding from City’s Malaysian owners to delve into the transfer market as the Bluebirds look to go up during 2012-13.

“I’ve read about the Malaysian investment in Cardiff City and I’m sure there will be more new signings,” says Mutch.

Why should cash be the important thing If Craig Bellamy loves this club then he should do so for a financial package that won't hurt us. IF he comes back and is the main reason for taking us in to the Premier league then that should be enough for the hometown boy surely? :ayatollah:

Bit naive though in reality.
I'm sure he would play for a lil less to live at home but no one will throw money down the drain would they.

Remember hes rich. its not all about money, we offered him more to come to us than liverpool did but he choose them.If he wants to come home and help finish the job he started then he will and hell negotiate a reasonable deal. If he doesn't want to then he wont come simple as tht.

He came 'home' once before. First chance he got, moved to his boyhood idols Liverpool. No thanks Craig.
