Football has, for me anyway, never been about purely seeking that golden light at the end of the tunnel, watching the City was never about success, it was about spending a Saturday afternoon, or Tuesday evening, with like minded people who had found something they could unite behind, something they had a combined passion for.

Stood on the Bob Bank, watching the 'shite 3rd division' football, as you put it, was about more than just what was going on on the pitch, it was about feeling like I belonged to something special, especially in the rugby mad South Wales valleys of the 70's and 80's, and with that sense of belonging came an identity, a BLUE identity, and an emblem we could call our own... the BLUEBIRD.... If I'd have wanted to follow something purely for success and glory then I'd have continued to support Man Utd, as I had done as a small child, but once my father introduced me to the Bluebirds that was never going to happen as I finally felt a part of something special, something Blue....

So if all it means to you is purely following a 'cosmopolitan' club in the dizzy heights of the Premiership, then may I suggest you travel a few miles down the M4 as apparently they already have a team purpose made for your requirements, and if they are not to your taste as they play in the wrong colour, then I believe there are a bevy of teams in the north west who play in red that may also be able to fill your needs..... but I'm sorry, football is far more than just glory hunting for me... it is about belonging and camaraderie, with a shared identity that stood proud and true long before I was even born, and will hopefully stand long after I'm gone, so all I can say is KEEP CARDIFF BLUE!!!!!!!

Just to add to Andy's post Cardiff City is a club! no different to a social club, rugby club(if that's your thing) or any other club,a place to socialise, talk football and life in general,a part of your life win or lose, a place where you all had one thing in common...a love for the club,I always had a pint and a Welsh burger it was a ritual for me and many others.I know people are going to say "football has moved on" and they would be right but Cardiff City wasn't always dark it was only for a period and most clubs have gone through this including Liverpool who we beat 6-1 in the late 50's and other clubs such as Man u were in the second division.People forget about the good days of the 60's and early 70's when Madrid came - 1961 Spurs won the double and we finished 15th was this a dark time?,1970 we finished 7th in the top tier, not dark at all! we still had our colours and our INSTITUTION,today we are divided, there is no institution anymore and those who want to preserve our identity didn't ask for this,it isn't our fault we want to keep our heritage alive,I believe we could have had good times without being stripped of our identity! something which would have been classed as insulting if done in Asia by a Welshman.

Thats all very well, and I share a similar view. But, I also open my mind to the fact that I support the team along with thousands of others with a main aim of seeing them improve, watching them grow and helping them to become a part of something bigger in the future.

The club needs to progress and change to benefit from the global economy and the financial market. We are unfortunately not in a position to sit back and relax reminiscing of times when a Pint in your hand on a Saturday afternoon would make everything all right. Yes football is more than just a team and a sport, it is a way of life and a social event, But in times of economic struggle we have to compromise, sometimes with great costs, sometimes with temporary changes and sometimes with permanent ones.

This could be the start or end of a great era for the club which ever way you look at it.

But as we always say: "I'll be there, I'll be there, with my little pick and shovel, I'll be there!"

I have to disagree this is not a very good post at all. Firstly NO-ONE wants Cardiff City to play in Red and the sarcastic remark about 'going to the north-west to fill your needs' is totally off the mark.

I also find it amazing anyone would claim that following their team was never about 'success'. Yes we all love the Saturday afternoon get togethers but we also want to win, no-one attends games hoping to lose.

What has happened is that the majority of pragmatic fans have reluctantly accepted a rebranding in exchange for heavy investment which can take the club to the next level and safeguard its future.

We all understand the 'identity' argument and we will be working quietly in the background for a change back; eventually.

But for me much more 'identity' is lost if we went into admin or liquidation, as a new company (with a new foundation date) would emerge (i.e. Swansea City/Rangers). The argument that we could play brinkmanship with a ruthless billionaire is totally ridiculous and any resistance to change would have seen this club's future put at risk and that is something I am not prepared to do.

For me the clever strategy is to welcome the rebranding but with a brief to lobby for the return of the Blue once VT’s grand plan is completed i.e. have our cake and eat it.

To dull thing to do is to take on a billionaire, put the club in danger and slag your own fans off.

PMG/LANGSTON/RAY RANSON have not been paid off.

It makes me laugh when people say its not about success and more about being part of a club. Where we're all these people when we were in the lower divisions with gates of 4000? Our average of 22000ish now would soon fall back if the team fell down the divisions. Good post from Tony by the way

To repeat myself though briefly, none of us knows why VT has decided why we need to change our colour or badge, but as he's kept us in business for the past 2 years and promised us a very sizeable investment, I believe that he deserves to be given a chance and our support!

I believe that VT has got a definite strategy to market us in a more profitable way and I do not see that he should have to divulge his plans to all and sundry, even to those like yourself, who clearly believe that he has changed our colour and badge in a whim!

There's nothing stopping some of the people in your keep Cardiff blue campaign, from joining the group, that Carl mentioned were going to be invited to discuss future decisions with the club, which would also be able to lobby for the change back to blue!

This would be a far better way of expending your group's energy IMO, as at least it would be seen to be supporting our club and not just a one sided agenda! :ayatollah:

Exactly my point,we had good times before without changing.as you stated the economic struggle exists for all clubs and business but I don't see any other clubs panicking and ditching their heritage to be able to move forward so why us? :ayatollah:

That's a bit like, "What have the Romans ever done for us?"

:ayatollah: Can you just answer the question overthemoon instead of avoiding it like everyone seems to be doing :ayatollah:

If you read some of my previous posts, you'll see that I've answered your question several times, unfortunately, you've clearly made up your mind that we need to stay blue at all costs and chosen to ignore mine and other posters, who've posted a different opinion to yours and continue to only post matters, that you believe supports your agenda!

:ayatollah:

Tan has kept us in business yes by lending us the money at 7% interest and more than doubling our debt to well over £80 mill, Tan should of been trying to cut our losses not make more.

You keep on saying this, but haven't come up with an alternative business plan! :?

Annis, Tan has been lending us money to stay afloat (no matter what the percentage) when no-one else would touch us with a barge pole! There is no-one else in shining white (or blue or red) armour!

How can I now that we are over £80 mill in debt, made mostly by our current board.

First of all the Malaysians have no one at our club capable of running it, even Allan Whitley says I am only temporary and I am just a solicitor.Name me one good person at our club who can run a football club and like a business ?

They should appoint a football man at our club.

2 years ago we were a very saleable asset, now we are staring at a £80 mill plus debt caused mostly by the present board.

Caused, or invested for long term gain? We will not know the answer to that question for a while yet.
We should get behind the club until we know more.
Another £mil or so just this week for a player, is not plan of someone who wants to wreck a club.
This is long haul stuff I believe.

If we were a saleable asset 2 years ago, where were the queues of businessmen outside Cardiff City Stadium with their cheque books?

And why would businessmen have wanted to buy our club, when there are far more better propositions than us, like Leeds for example, who have a far bigger fan base and turnover?
