Cardiff City backer Vincent Ban to build dragon themed water slide in The Great Mall of China

VINCENT Tan is behind plans to build the world’s biggest shopping and entertainment complex in China – featuring a huge dragon-themed water slide.

The Malaysian billionaire – Cardiff City’s main investor – is building The Great Mall of China in Yanjiao, about 38km from Beijing.
According to reports, the first phase of the project will feature a huge retail mall, the world’s tallest indoor rollercoaster and a giant water park.
The second and third phases will consist of a convention centre, theatre, shops, office blocks, an aquarium, sports centre, hotel and apartments.
The scheme is being developed by Tan’s Berjaya Corporation. The tycoon was quoted by the Malaysian Star as saying: “We will complete the first phase by November 2013.
“The second phase may take another three years. Our challenge is to complete it and it would be the biggest mall in the world. The first phase alone is over five million square feet. The second phase is bigger, almost 13 million square feet.”
The water park will be on two levels, covering 75,459 square feet and reaching a height of 98 feet. Its major attraction will be a huge dragon-themed water slide, designed to appeal to the Chinese market.
